Help Getting Open NX Running On Mint Linux 14

I'm running Mint 14 Cinnamon at home.

I would like to use my desktop at work, which is running RHEL 5.1 with NoMa=
chine version 3.*.

I am told NoMachine version 4 is incompatible with version 3, and version 3=
seems to be unavailable. Does anyone know where to get a copy of version =
3? I haven't found one, so I decided to install Open NX on my Mint 14 comp=
uter at home.

My problem with Open NX is that I get this error message when I try to conn=
ect:

Error: Unexpected termination of nxssh

I think this error may have to do with the Open NX looking for paths that m=
ay not be there in Mint 14.

I read via a result from a Google search that Mint 14 is based off of Ubunt=
u 12.10.

So, I used the instructions for Debian based distros posted here:
http://opennx.sourceforge.net/download.html

I ran this command
wget -O - http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/felfert/Debian_6.=
0/Release.key | apt-key add -

Then I added this into a file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/
deb http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/felfert/xUbuntu_12.10 .=
/

I then ran this command:
apt-get update; apt-get install opennx

None of the menu entries for Open NX did anything when I clicked on them in=
my menu. I looked at the properties of the Open NX client icon and found =
that the command was:
/usr/NX/bin/opennx

That path does not exist on my machine, only
/usr/NX=20
does

I tried rerunning the installation and got this message:
opennx is already the newest version.

I went into Synaptic Package Manager and it gave me this list of installati=
on directories for Open NX:

After looking that list over I successfully started Open NX ( the title on =
the client window ) via this command:
/usr/bin/nxclient

I was then able to put my credentials into the Open NX client, but when I t=
ried to connect I got this error message
unexpected termination of nxssh

I tried running /usr/bin/nxclient with the -- verbose option from the comma=
nd line to get more feedback, but I got none. All I got was this ouput fro=
m the Open NX runlog:

I ran a Google search on my error message. It seems it can be a number of =
problems and I am not an expert in these things so I was hoping that someon=

Thanks in advance for any information.

I would run the nxclient with strace and see
what it is complaining about. (in the output of strace
you will see the actual execs and libs that it is looking
for, and whatever other files and their expected locations.
Use that info to create softlinks to the
actual libs and execs it is looking for)

I would create the directories/sub-directories for the path/locations
that the executive binary/ies are actually looking for under /usr/NX
(if that be the case), and create soft links in these sub-directories
to point to the actual installed locations in
/usr/lib/opennx/bin and /usr/lib/opennx/lib.

For example:
mkdir -p /usr/NX/bin
mkdir -p /usr/NX/lib
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/nxclient /usr/NX/bin/nxclient
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/bin/nxproxy /usr/NX/bin/nproxy
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/bin/nxssh /usr/NX/bin/nxssh
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/bin/opennx /usr/NX/bin/opennx
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/bin/pconnect /usr/NX/bin/pconnect
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/bin/watchreader /usr/NX/bin/watchreader
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/lib/libXcomp.so.0 /usr/NX/lib/libXcomp.so.0
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/opennx/lib/libXcomp.so.0.0.0 //usr/NX/lib/libXcomp.so.0.0.0

Get paid to run Linux?
Some wacks claim MS charges artificially-high, monopoly rates for Windows, but in the free market all of us live in there's no such thing as an artificially high price. There is only the price the market will bear... for Linux that price is clearly some amount *below* $0. While hundreds of millions of users have paid $50 to $250 for XP for the last six years, the market has rejected free Linux - with prejudice, as proven by years of flat usage share - and would clearly insist on being paid to run Linux instead of Windows. It might make for an interesting poll of Windows users: Ho...
