i want to put a version or 2 of linux on it
The computer only has a CD-rom on it
of All my versions of linux the only one i have on CD is Knoppix
the SuSE Slackware disks are all on DVDs
I was thinking of burning the DVDs on to a CD but i already know that
the CD is too small to hold all that info
but what about just part of it?
what parts do i burn to fit it on a cd so i can boot it

If you can't download a CD, you might order a free one from Ubuntu, or
cheap CDs from many places on the web.

There is a SUSE boot disk for the network install which fits quite easily
on a CD. The (*)Ubuntu series all comes on one CD - Elive comes on one CD.
The MultiDist CD gives you about 7 distributions. You can also install
Gentoo from one CD. I believe there is also supposed to be a Mandrivel
network install CD though it did not work very well for me when I tried on
a previous version.

Check out to distrowatch and check out the list on the right side of
the page. There are many distros that run off of one cd. You should be
able to find one you can use?

But it has a hard disk, right?

Your question could be clearer. There is no such thing as a SuSE
Slackware DVD. I suppose you could have left out a comma, be using a
nickname, or something similar which isn't helpful. Are you an old hand
doing this, or are you just starting out? If you're an old hand, then say
what you mean. If you're just starting out, then try to pinpoint your
question as best as you can. The first step is to decide which
distribution you want to try, then review the available setup
documentation for that distribution. Both Suse and Slackware have plenty
of documentation which explains setup options, but they are two separate
distros.
Be aware that you may not need to burn any discs if you can get
the setup files you need on your computer in advance. One way to get the
setup files you need is to use your knoppix cd. Boot it, then retrieve
the required files using the network (saving to some free space on another
hard disc partition.) This may be slightly more difficult than starting
from a physical disc, but it's possible.

You should be able to get CDs (or CD ISOs) for just about any Linux
distro. Check at www.cheapbytes.com.

You need to create a *proper* set of CDs that are laid out the way the
installer expects the CDs to be laid out. I don't know if the DVD has
its own layout or if it just has a batch of .iso images on it.

your what, and why do you want it in the US. I can believe you are
ill. Most digits 'one' work quite satisfactorily.
