Mplayer cannot find codec?
I used avidemux to convert a .mov file to an .avi. When I play the avi
file, there is no sound, and I get the error "Cannot find codec for audio
format 0x39" (See below). I get this error regardless of what format I
save the file as. I also have no audio when using devede to convert
formats. I got the latest essential-20071007.tar from the mplayer web
site, and installed the codecs in /usr/lib/codecs, and still no sound
after converting. Any ideas why I loose the audio when converting from
one format to another?
-Thanks

What codec can't it find?
(they're listed in /etc/Codecs.conf so open that and search for 0x39)

t is often a better idea to install a codec pack and /then/ compile a
copy of mplayer. You could try the /full/ codec pack at:
http://www.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/codecs/all-20071007.tar.bz2
and perhaps the rc2 version of mplayer:
http://www3.mplayerhq.hu/MPlayer/releases/MPlayer-1.0rc2.tar.bz2
Another thing to look at is if you actually have codecs in 2 different
locations. Perhaps /usr/local/lib/codecs??
