First, read this (IMPORTANT!):
http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html
Second - there are so many questions to ask one doesn't know where to
start:
* What version of Red Hat? 5.x? 6.x? 7.x? 8? 9? Advanced Server
2.1? 3?
* Are you using X? What version?
* Are you using KDE? What version?
* Are you using Gnome? What version?
* Are you using some other window manager altogether? Blackbox?
Fluxbox? Openbox? XFCE? 9wm? pwm?
* Which file manager are you using? git? konqueror? emacs? vim?
Other helpful questions (maybe):
* What shell are you using? ksh? sh? bash? csh? scsh? clisp?
rc?
* What type system are you using? IBM zSeries? PowerPC? Intel386?
Other helpful pointers:
* Have you looked at the man pages?
* Have you looked at the help screens?
* Have you searched on google?
* Have you searched at Red Hat's web site?

Presuming KDE, try 'konqueror'.

This depends on which file manager (the usual term instead of "file
explorer") you want to use. If you want to launch Konqueror (the usual
file manager if you're running KDE), you enter:
konqueror file:/path/to/directory/you/want/konqueror/to/start/in
....while if you want to launch nautilus (the usual file manager if
you're running GNOME), you enter
nautilus file:/path/to/directory/you/want/nautilus/to/start/in
....Redhat defaults to GNOME, so you may want nautilus. You can pass
Konqueror almost any URL and Konq will open it, not sure about Nautilus.
HTH,

Yes, I'm using KDE and "konqueror" works.
Thanks!

Have you tried mc, the command for Midnight Commander, a command line
file manager?
