Puppy Linux, trying to mount a Network Fileserver

I have a computer running puppy Linux. I am getting some weird behaviour with
the networking:

ping www.google.co.uk
64 bytes from 64.233.183.147: seq=0 ttl=241 time=38.1ms

Ok. I can browse the internet.

cat /etc/hosts

127.0.0.1 localhost puppypc
10.0.0.8 neptune.markhobley.yi.org neptune

ping 10.0.0.8
64 bytes from 10.0.0.8: seq=0 ttl=241 time=2.1ms

Ok.

Now watch this:

ping neptune
PING neptune (a00:8:5086:c1bf::): 56 data bytes
ping: can't create raw socket: Address family not supported by protocol

What the hell is that crap? I am using an IP4 network.
Why is ping trying to use IP6?

mkdir /mnt/vol3a
mount neptune:/volumes/vol3a/ /mnt/vol3a/
mount: mounting neptune:/volumes/vol3a/ on /mnt/vol3a/ failed

Hmmm, something is wrong here.

Regards,

Mark.
