Saving video frames

  • Follow

I am looking for some software that will allow me to select a single
frame from video data (a VOB file from a DVD or an AVI file) and save it
to a JPEG (or some other format) file. I have looked into a number of
things, but they are either over the top (Cinelerra, with which I have yet
to figure out how to do anything really simple) or Kino (which does not
know anything about DVDs.)

Any suggestions? I find it kind of surprising that such an apparently
straightforward seems to be so difficult to accomplish under Linux, and
this can only imply that I have not looked into the right software yet.
