Sometimes, when server is re-booted such strange characters appear (they
look like terminal escape sequences, don't they). After it shows up,
machine seems to ingnore any keyborad input. The same for serial port
(console redirection in BIOS is on).
Last time, server was powered-off and the drive reseated. It helped for
some time, but now the problem is back. I really doubt that the drive is
a source of problem... I hope someone will come up with a better
explanation.
Machine is Dell Poweredge 1550 and it's running Debian Woody 3.0r2,
kernel 2.4.18 smp.

My guess is that you have a bad keyboard or, more likely, a bad
motherboard. It would probably be rather easy to try with another
keyboard, try that one first.

Is there a possibility that either the keyboard, or the motherboard is
broken?
