Im using sylpheed .9.6 on knoppix.

I can call up the address book to select addresses as "send", but not 
bcc......that button is always grayed out.

Anyone know a way around that?

You need to add the Bcc: line to the message window. Check the Bcc
option in the View menu. After doing that, the Bcc: button in the
address book should no longer be grayed out.
