Netatalk Printing doesn't Print.

Hi, I'm running RH 7.3 with netatalk-1.4b2+asun2.1.3. I have been
trying to figure out how to get my network printers to print from our
Macs (OS 9.2 & OS X). I would like to run it through a print server
to log all the print jobs, but I cannot seem to get the Macs to print
to this printer. The printer comes up in the chooser without a
problem, but when you hit print, it cannot seem to make the connection
(i.e. it doesn't print). I have looked all over the web and could not
seem to find a working answer to this...maybe comp.os.linux.networking
could be of help?

Here are my config files below.
Thanks in advance,
-D

/etc/printcap :

Printer1:\
        :ml=0:\
        :mx=0:\
        :sd=/var/spool/lpd/Printer1:\
        :af=/var/spool/lpd/Printer1/Printer1.acct:\
        :sh:\
        :lp=|/usr/share/printconf/util/jetdirectprint:\
        :lpd_bounce=true:\
        :if=/usr/share/printconf/util/mf_wrapper:

/etc/atalk/config :

# Appletalk configuration
# Change this to increase the maximum number of clients that can
connect:
AFPD_MAX_CLIENTS=150
# Change this to set the machine's atalk name:
#ATALK_NAME=`echo ${HOSTNAME}|cut -d. -f1`
ATALK_NAME=LinuxBox
# Set which daemons to run:
PAPD_RUN=yes
AFPD_RUN=yes
# Control whether the daemons are started in the background
ATALK_BGROUND=yes

/etc/atalk/papd.conf :

# Attributes are:
#
#       Name Type Default       Description
# pd str ".ppd" Pathname to ppd file.
# pr str "lp" LPD printer name.
# op str "operator" Operator name, for LPD spooling.
#
# Some examples:
#
# On many systems (notably not Solaris), no papd.conf is
required,
# since papd shares the same defaults as lpd.
#
#       A simple example:
#
#               terminator:\
#                       :pr=lp:op=wes:\
#                       :pd=/usr/share/lib/ppd/HPLJ_4M.PPD:
#
# Note also that papd.conf can list several printers.
Printer1:\
        :pr=Printer1:\
        :op=lp:\
        :pd=/backup/PPD/HP4M.ppd:

Linux printing just doesn't work
What a crock of shit.... How many times have we heard the FUDsters say this? Let me relay a story of last week. I've had an Epson Stylus Photo 790 for about 3 years, an unimaginative piece of hardware but it did the job well and did it well for a long time. Then I had some problems when booted up in Linux, I could get 360dpi just, but it looked terrible loads of missing lines and maps were unreadable, setting the resolution to 720dpi caused the printer to print about 3 characters a page the move onto the next one. To be perfectly honest I thought I'd screwed up CUPS somehow, but eve...

Mac Doesn't seem to really support Network Printing
I have Print Sharing turned on. I am sharing an HP 882C. I can add a new printer in XP that recognizes the share from my mac, but, when I do a test print, it doesn't seem to go. When I set up a new printer under my Linux machines, be it SMB or CUPS, I get "server-error-service-unavailable". So, it seems like my Mac really isn't listening for remote print requests. Any ideas on why I can print from other computers to my Mac? Thanks, Jeff ...

Print-Print versus Print-Preview-Print
Is there a difference between the following operations from any given program? Let's say Safari, because I often want to Preview to see how many pages there are before deciding to print. From Safari: File > Print --> print dialog > Print versus From Safari: File > Print --> print dialog then choose Preview --> Abode Reader view then print directly from Adobe using File > Print --> print dialog > Print It sounds like a waste of steps, but after I preview in Adobe Reader, I usually close the preview and go back and print directly from Safari. Printed copy doesn't look like what's on screen
I guess this is probably a common problem. I have a photo that looks beautiful on my screen and lousy on the printer. It is a high quality printer. I am actually making these photos for a brochure, but it won't be printed using this printer. I'm not sure what to do. I guess I could alter the image, perhaps through trial and error, so it looks good on the printer and lousy on the screen. But I don't know if that makes any sense since we are using an outside printing company to print the brochures. I realize I could go trial and error with the printing company's printer, b...

HP 8250 can't print borderless prints?
I just got the HP 8250 and it has an option to print borderless prints. You press layout, you press it until you get to borderless print and then press ok. Word doesn't print
A couple of weeks ago I allowed a co-worker to use my home computer. He said his system wasn't working right - I think I know why now. He had a grey scale logo he wanted to print on some stationery. He used Word, got the logo on screen, moved it around and printed a sample. He thought it was too dark and started futzing with things until he got it much lighter and to his taste. He printed off about 30 copies and did the "Thanks Dude, C-ya" and he was gone. I didn't try to use Word for a couple of days but when I did, it seemed OK until I tried printing and it d...

window.print() doesn't work!?
First of all, this one is driving me crazy, so thanks in advance for any help!! I've got a javascript function in a parent document that generates an HTML document on the fly when a button is clicked... that generated popup contains a button that's supposed to print the contents of the popup window (self). However, the button won't print (nothing happens on click) from the newly generated popup to print the contents of the window... the complete source for the generated page is below, I've tried every combination I can think of, but absolutely nothing happens when I click the button... I tried the right-click print from the context menu, and everything comes up... so, the issue's in code somewhere! argh! <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Generated 2/19/2004 at 14:18</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgcolor='#FFFFFF' text='#000000' style='margin: 0em'> <DIV ALIGN='center'> <IMG SRC=graphs/ChartPic_000001.jpeg width=600 height=300> <form> <input type=button value="Print Document" onclick="window.print()"> </form> </DIV> </BODY> </HTML> ...and just in case someone is interested in the code that generates this window in the parent page... it's below... <!-- Begin function popUp(URL,TITLE,IMGWIDTH,IMGHEIGHT,WINWIDTH,WINHEIGHT) { day = new Date(); id = day.getTime(); dateTime = day.getMonth()+1 +'/'+ day.getDate() +'...
