RH7.1: Switching libc.so.6 from 2.2.2 to 2.2.4 can't login now

Like an idiot, I attempted to "upgrade" my libc.so.6 from 2.2.2 to 2.2.4
by changing the symbolic link in /lib/i686 to point to the "newer"
version. Now I cannot login, no account is known and CTRL-ALT-DEL doesn't
work so I have to kill the power each time I attempt to boot.

How can I re-point that symbolic link if I can't get a root login prompt?
I don't seem to have an option to enter single user mode. Help.

Thanks.

You only need to boot from some rescue media, what comes with your
distro or even Knoppix would do fine. Mount your system "/"
somewhere and fix things, not a big deal.;)

Good luck

Get yourself a live-CD distro such as knoppix (also, many installation
CDs for regular distros allow you to get a command prompt after booting
from CD), mount your partition where the link was and modify it so it's
correct.

If I had such a thing. Continuing my idiocy, I googled for the answer and
got it. Type 'linux single' at the boot: prompt allowed me to fix the
symbolic link. All better now, sorry for the dumb question.

Upgrade of Xalan 1.2.2 and Xerces 1.4.4 to Xalan 2.6 and Xerces 2.6.2
I've been tasked with upgrading the JVM from 1.3 to 1.4, and the third party libraries used by my company on our existing Java framework. I'm most worried about any problems that may occur due to upgrading Xalan and Xerces as our framework performs much XML transformation and processing. 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 or pow(2, 4)?
Hi , I hope this isn't too trivial to ask, but I'm evaluating a polynomial that involve lots of terms like x^2y^2z^3, and although I can use the power function pow(a, b), I wonder if just writing x*x*y*y*z*z*z for example wouldn't be more efficient than pow(x, 2)*pow(y, 2)*pow(z,3).
