Here's my linux error message:
= this is the startup message i.e. before any problems
> X Error of failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)
> Major opcode of failed request: 42 (X_SetInputFocus)
= those 2 lines would tell an 'X expert' what's wrong ?
> Serial number of failed request: 343415
> Current serial number in output stream: 343416

When I run an app. [linux-ETHZ-Oberon] in a desktop of
kde-3, which is inet-fetching [mail or news or http]
and which would write the contents to screen, but can't
write to screen, because I've switched to another desktop,
the linux-ETHZ-Oberon task has crashed, when I switch to
see it.
NB. ETHZ-Oberon doesn't write it's inet-fetches to file,
like normal. It writes to 'screen' -- apparently a display buffer.
Since linux-ETHZ-Oberon shows no other problems, nor if
the display is kept available, while it's inputting inet, I
assume the problem is related to 'the incoming byte-stream
not being accepted'.
I'd expect the inet-byte-stream to be 'held-back' until
the X-display is ready ?
Can someone guess at a cause of the problem ?
TIA,
== Chris Glur.
It's good that both arms of the abusive WinTel
monopoly have been hit now.
