Adding another computer to Roadrunner Cable Internet setup

  • Follow

I currently have one computer connected to RoadRunner with a cable
modem.

I have another computer downstairs. How can I get that computer to
share the connection. I don't want to use cables since they are far
apart. Do all I need is a wireless router for the cable internet. Do
I run the wire going into the cable modem into the new router I buy
and a network cable from the router back to the cable modem?

--and simply add a PCI wireless card to the other computer and
configure it's TCP/IP for the card to be something like 192.168.02?

Is this how to go or do I have something mixed up? I am not familiar
with getting the cable modem setup to connect with the wireless
router.

Thanks for any help!
