A user is complaining that the file sharing is slow. So I jump on their
computer and try to access a remote file. It is very slow, so i try to
narrow down the problem. First i open up a command prompt (this is a
windows XP sp2 box) and try to execute "random_remote_file.doc" and it
pops open word instantly. I double check the GUI and it is still
running slow on the same file i just opened. If this was an
authentication issue, would the CLI have a way of avoiding the
authentication done by windows explorer? These are maped drives, and on
everyother machine on the network the file sharing is fine. So i did
narrow it down to explorer and local to this machine. Im just baffled
that the CLI works fine and the GUI is slow, goes to show you i gues
that old school > new school.
If you have any ideas please let me know. Take it easy guys/gals
