Anyone know of more current Windows drivers for LK keyboards?
A co-worker found this strange keyboard in the back of the warehouse
where the rats don't like to go. He was going to put it on the scrap
heap, I distracted him with some 8 inch floppies ("How do you use
these? Fold 'em?"), grabbed the keyboard, and scurried off. A
pristine LK461-A2 with the cord still in plastic wrap. Alas, no
documentation or disk.
I found these sites for drivers:
http://www.compaq.com/legacysupport/digital/epid90.html
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/legacysupport/digital/ExtIndex8.html
I downloaded the GGLK4IR2.EXE file, ran the install in NT 4.0
compatibility mode, and installed the four US keyboard drivers.
The US LK450/451 with F18 support driver is working fairly well on
Windows XP SP3 and KEA! 420 4.23 terminal emulator. The US LK411/461
with F18 support driver gets confused and is listed as either Canadian
Multilingual Standard or US Dvorak for right hand in Regional and
Language Options control panel, so I'm leery of using it.
I'm wondering if there are more recent drivers than 1997.
Thanks

What version of Windows???
I'm typing this on a (beige) LK461-A2 under Windowa XP SP2
with no additional drivers loaded.
You need minimal "tribal knowledge" to find the mapping:
Find =3D Home
Select =3D End
Remove =3D Del
Prev,Next and Insert Here map as expected.
PF1 =3D NumLock (hated, hated Windows key!)
F18 =3D PrtScr
F19 =3D SrcLock
That gets me around Windows apps just fine.
Under Reflections X (V10.0), in a Decterm, the
keyboard is fully functional in VMS. My one gripe
is that PF1 continues to toggle NumLock, which
screws up the keypad mapping in the editor (I just
try to avoid using it at all).
In a Reflections VT terminal, the Help and Do
keys are dead (I don't use it regularly, so I suspect
that all of F13-F20 are dead, but test for
yourself). This is true even with a "real" LK450-AA
plugged in and an LK450 driver from Reflections
loaded.
But this is a very old version of Reflections. I've
no experience with their current release.
Upshot is, at least on WXP, I don't think you
need, or want, a keyboard driver.

Your config is similar, SP2 vs SP3. You might try the driver I used,
function keys F6 thru F20 are available in KEA (copyright 1996) and
PF1 acts like PF1 in KEA and acts like NumLock elsewhere.

I've used both KEA and eXceed in a previous position
and they both worked well. I'm constrained at my
present employer to use Reflections, and indeed,
this old version of Reflections.
My comments were mainly directed at whether
you needed a special keyboard driver. What
Reflections, KEA and eXceed do with NumLock,
etc., is in the application, well beyond the driver.

Just for the record the product is called "Reflection" with no "s".
It was written by "Walker, Richer, and Quinn", "WRQ" for short.
I believe it now belongs to Attachmate. My copy is a real antique but
still works when I need to telnet in from my PC.
Since I've retired, I've had no need for it but it's ready when/if
I do. It's really nice to have when you get called at some unholy
hour and have to dial in to a computer at work.
