I recently installed an ECO and got a PCSI-I-SELGEN message (as expected).
Then I found out, that VMS83A_LOGIN-V0200 provides LOGINOUT.EXE and also
SETP0.EXE (as listed in the ECO cover letter and release notes) but only
gives only one SELGEN message for LOGINOUT.EXE
%PCSI-I-CMPGEN, resolved file conflict by comparing generation numbers
-PCSI-I-SELGEN, selected file [SYSEXE]LOGINOUT.EXE provided by DEC AXPVMS VMS83A_LOGIN V2.0
%PCSI-I-CMPGEN, resolved file conflict by comparing generation numbers
but nothing for SETP0.EXE
(was the SETP0.EXE on disk and in ECO kit identical then?)
and this raised the question, when (and how) a SELGEN message is issued.
Where are these generation numbers stored?
TIA

Peter,
I'm prettey sure that 'generation number' refers to the image file
build identification in the Image Identification Information section
of the image file header ($ANAL/IMAGE/SELECT=BUILD imagename).
