Searching for pdf files using window search function
I need to search for pdf files with certain words. For example a pdf
file with "beautiful", so i used the search function in windows. It
shows results from office documents but not from pdf.
But if it go to another pc, it works just fine. The pdf file was shown
in the search results.
Im using Acrobat 7 Pro.
Any better search engine to solve this or solution?

Oh ladies and gentlemen do I need help (in more ways then one but let's
get on to it).
I have written a batch file for a client to backup a computer's
partitions onto an external hard drive.
The computer is running XP Professional, ALL PARTITIONS and the
external hard disk is NTFS.
I have a script for every computer - THEY ALL WORK except one.
I am having problems on one of the clients partitions (F:). It is a
8.6 GIG partition that is in size 40 GIG (NTFS) and it is shared.
Ok here's what's happening. The code for this file is posted below.
Now before I continue...Newbie help: File searching and writing output to new file
I've done a bit of searching through this group, and found some things
that I thought would help me, but unfortunately they haven't.
I'm just trying to write a short script that will search through web
server log files and write out lines from the original files that
contain a certain term to a new file. I did have the "puts" line of my
code working, but after a few changes that doesn't work either!
What am I doing wrong?? :
There are a bunch of "ex2005##.log" files in the current directory.

I hate to have to post such a seemingly dumb question.
But all the obvious has not worked.
My new XP Pro laptop was recently configured for me.
After installing Teradata SQL Assistant, the .SQL files
were opening with that. But, that was not what I wanted
to use. In Windows, I like to use wordpad.
I work with Oracle scripts, with the suffix: .SQL.
There are hundreds of them.
Like most people, I often forget which file contains what.
So, I usually use Windows Explorer search to find the file.
If I know that the file is concerning GV$PROCESS, I just use

I've 2 questions about python help files:
1. how can I launch the windows help file (CHM), from python with a
keyword as argument ?
2. now when my program should also run under Linux/Mac, how should I
call the help file under Linux/Mac.
Going to the website for the help information is not an option.

I need to search single text keyword in the files (multiple) in a
single zip file. Preferrably simple approach, as this command would be
run by end-users in different server (same hpux OS).
Syntax I used:
zgrep store099 /archived/2004_12_sales.zip
Within the 2004_12_sales.zip :
I had run the above command, but it only return the results from the
first file with the keyword. (only results in 2004_12_01.dat)
Is there any solution for this problem?

...Help: String search in Windows 2000 doesn't find text in Windows XP: MS Word document
I am using Perl 5 (I believe both machines are using ActivePERL 5) on
two machines with the same data files. One machine is Win 2000 the
other is Win XP. The files are MS Word 2000 documents e-mailed
(manually) from the Win 2000 machine to the XP machine.
The program searches the MS Word Files (both created with MS Word 2000)
for the word HYPERLINK. The format for the HYPERLINK that I am

Distributing a new version of my application, I found out that the
application can't find its help file any more, and I have to use the browse
button to get into the Installation directory where the help file is
(together with the .exe). I did not change anything, so I don't understand
why this happens. In my program, the Help is accessed via the following
procedure TMainForm.HelpBtnClick(Sender: TObject);
Application.HelpFile := 'MyAppl.hlp';
