Help file search?

Is there really no search function in Pegasus 4.62? If so, that really
reduces its usefulness. Or am I missing something?

And is the menu option Help | Using Help supposed to do something?
Nothing happens when I click it.

I still have 4.41. In Help, the information about searching
begins:

| Often you may know that you have received a message on a
| particular subject at some stage but have no idea which folder
| you stored it in. If you want to search through some or all of
| your folders for particular messages, open the Folder Manager
| window and select Find from the Edit menu. A dialog will open
| offering you options for your search.

Isn't the option "Find" available from the Edit menu in 4.62?

When you click on Using Help, a little window opens. At the top it
says "Help Topics: How to Use Help". The only item below that
available to choose is "Dialog Help Box." If you double-click
that, the next level opens, where it says "Information about this
Help file." Click on that, and you get this:

| You can view this Help by clicking the ? button and then
| clicking an item in a dialog box, or by right-clicking an item
| in a dialog box and then clicking What's This?. For overviews of
| features and help with specific tasks, click Start, and then
| click Help and Support.

If you mean an option to search the Help file, I don't see that in
4.41, either.

Oops! I left out a couple of crucial words. Yes, that's what I meant to
say - I was looking for the search function in the Help file. Sorry
'bout that.

I think it's odd that it's not there. There's a lot of information in
Pegasus's Help, but it's not organized very well, at least for my way
of thinking. Most help files are searchable, and I think it's very
strange that this one isn't.

It isn't since David Harris developed his own help system due to Windows
restrictions on the old one. But (since a couple of versions) there's also
the (PDF) manual available in Pegasus Mail's program directory to be
opened and searched in any PDF viewer.

I do recall that whole to-do. It's unfortunately that this was the end
result - a crippled help file that's only marginally useful. The PDF
manual is slightly better. Since Mr. Harris may not be inclined to
improve the help, maybe he could make the manual directly accessible
from the Help menu.

Latest plans are to develop yet another new help system, most probably
HTML based.

The code for this file is posted below. Now before I continue...

Newbie help: File searching and writing output to new file
Hi people, I've done a bit of searching through this group, and found some things that I thought would help me, but unfortunately they haven't. I'm just trying to write a short script that will search through web server log files and write out lines from the original files that contain a certain term to a new file. I did have the "puts" line of my code working, but after a few changes that doesn't work either! What am I doing wrong?? : There are a bunch of "ex2005##.log" files in the current directory. -------------------- #!c:\ruby\bin\ruby def find_r...

Windows Explorer search file contents not working on .sql files.
Dear Experts, I hate to have to post such a seemingly dumb question. But all the obvious has not worked. My new XP Pro laptop was recently configured for me. After installing Teradata SQL Assistant, the .SQL files were opening with that. But, that was not what I wanted to use. In Windows, I like to use wordpad. I work with Oracle scripts, with the suffix: .SQL. There are hundreds of them. Like most people, I often forget which file contains what. So, I usually use Windows Explorer search to find the file. If I know that the file is concerning GV$PROCESS, I just use window...

Help: String search in Windows 2000 doesn't find text in Windows XP: MS Word document
Hi: I am using Perl 5 (I believe both machines are using ActivePERL 5) on two machines with the same data files. One machine is Win 2000 the other is Win XP. The format for the HYPERLINK that I am searching for in the document is: HYPERLINK "mydoc.doc" (I checked this on the XP machine in Notepad and it is OK.)
