I have a Windows 2000 Server that already has an Adaptec 2100s RAID
card with two SCSI drives connected in a RAID1 configuration. I have
installed a new 2100s and connected three SCSI drives to it and I would
like to configure it as RAID5.
The problem I am having is that if I install the new 2100s in the PCI
slot above the original 2100s the server will not boot from the RAID1
config. When I swap PCI slots with the RAID cards (I put the new 2100s
into the original 2100s slot, and then put the original 2100s into the
slot above the new 2100s), Windows 2000 boots up, but the screen gets
garbled atfer the progress bar gets to the far right and the keyboard
is unresponsive.
I am back to the original setting with the new 2100s in the PCI slot
above the original 2100s with the 3 SCSI drives not plugged in so that
I have a workable server. The IRQ for the original 2100s is 10 and the
IRQ for the new 2100s is 11.
What can I do to remedy this problem? Is there any changes I can make
in the Adaptec software or do I need to physically swap the RAID cards
to get the RAID1 to boot and then troubleshoot the problem with Windows
2000 locking up and garbling the screen?
