Hello!

I recently bought a used 2940UW board which had a very old BIOS installed, 
so I searched for the latest version available for download.

On the Adaptec web site I found the version 2.20 but, using Google, I also 
found a version 2.57.2 BIOS, downloaded from DriversGuide.com and made in 
the year 2000 (v2.20 is from 1999).

I installed the latter one on my board and it seems to be working just fine, 
but I would like to know if it is an official BIOS or maybe it is an hacked 
one, since it isn't released on Adaptec's web site.

Who knows something more about that? It may also be an official BIOS since I 
have to say that I own two AHA-2842VL (VESA Local Bus based boards) whose 
BIOSes are newer than the one downloadable from Adaptec.

That one is old too. V3.10 is also available.

Adaptec are dead.

It used to be here:

Secondly, when would it be worth applying over a 2.57.2
I'm running a 2940U/UW updated to 2.57.2 - the only thing it's driving
is a scanner

It still is, though the FTP is unbrowseable!

Oh for the days of open FTP support sites, no pissing around through
interminable menus
