Maximum Transfer Rate

My company uses a JVC Jukebox connected to an Adaptec 2930CU HBA.
Some customers require the use of a 10' cable to reach the jukebox
from the server.
The JVC jukebox and DVD drives in it are SCSI-2. We use a granite
cable that is a 50 Pin Centronics-50 Pin MicroD. The scsi cabling
inside the jukebox is 2 feet and the cable is 10 feet. It is
recommmended that SCSI-2 cabling running at a transfer rate of 10 MB/s
should not exceed 9.8 ft and that SCSI-1 cabling running at a transfer
rate of 5 MB/s should not exceed 19.8 ft. If I lower the transfer
rate of the Adaptec card to 5 MB/s, does this technically allow me to
have a cable length of up to 19.8 ft?
