Not too long ago I changed from 98 to 2000. All was well except I had
some trouble with my Kyocera printer and my Film Scanner a Canon FS
2710. I sorted it eventually and thought really well of myself finding
the drivers and installing.
Then the Hard Disk was giving trouble and I bought a new 80GB. Thought
nothing of installing again on the 80 gb as I had done it many times
before on the 98. Trouble is the 98 saves the Registry and 2000 does
apparently not do so.
For that reason I had the whole system to set up again. Now the
scanner is running as I found something like the right driver again
but it will only work by itself - previously with the 20 GB HD I had
it running from IrfanView and Photoshop. Simply select the source and
then make it work for you and you are straight into photoshop or
IrfanView. Actually it works that wasy for the flat base scanner and
also the logitech camera.
Normally you expect with a scsi item to turn that on before the
computer to make it work - Now I can turn the scanner on while the
computer is running and it will work - I can save the picture and
start up my chosen program, select the saved file and work on that -
so not a lot is lost, except the pride of having a system working as
it should do.
I have done absolutely nothing except change the disk and I needed to
get the wires at the back disconnected temporarily. They are back as
The device Manager sees the scanner as IX-27025E SCSI Scanner Device
instead of FS2710 and that does not suit as it is the only yellow item
on the listing of the device manager.
I have tried aspi_471a2.exe as well as aspi_v470.exe and the driver
for the FS2710 is scfs364.exe.
Scanning through the stored backups does not find any other item with
a scfs except the 364.
