destop-read fails to read #2
Hello all, Here is my problem: I have a dual boot (WinXP and Debian) system which share most of the files through the shared drive with filesystem FAT32. On Debian, I create the ~/.emacs.desktop from scratch by first opening the 3 files, all of which are located on the shared drive, and then using (desktop-save). But if I close all these buffers, and do a (desktop-read), then it fails: Desktop: 0 buffers restored, 3 failed to restore. If I restart emacs, then the first file listed in the .emacs.desktop is restored with no visible problems, the others are not: Desktop: 1 buffer restored, 2 ...

db file sequential read, where does it read to?
9.2.0.5 Ent Ed AIX5L I've got a few long running processes that are all performing full table scans and they are waiting on db file % reads. When a file read is performed, is it reading the blocks into the buffer and then on to the user or does it just dump them straight out to the user? What I'm getting at is, Could these table scans be aging each other's blocks out of the buffer and thus causing more file reads? I guess if I could do away with the table scans in general that would solve my problem though... I hope that wasn't too confusing. Ben wrote: > 9.2.0.5 Ent ...

Program to read SpDOS directory from MyDOS/2/2.5
I wrote a program to read SpDOS directory from any DOS. Somebody here gave me the idea. You can download it at: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/russgilb@sbcglobal.net Just click on the Read+Sparta... .zip file and download it. Let me know if you try it. Oh, it can't do subdirectories. It can't do DOS functions like copy, delete, run, etc. Just a directory lister. Somebody had trouble downloading, somebody else got the file OK. After you go to the URL, you have to click on the 'My Documents' folder, which opens to 'Read SpDOS dir from any DOS' .zip. Just click it and download it. Thanks for interest. The long 'Read...' filename will be OK in most browsers, methinks. It unzips to T7.COM, the Atari executable. This is the first time I've tried the Yahoo! briefcase to make a file available to the internet. Read a line, read the next line...then read it again
Hi there, I was hoping someone could help this frustrated Perl beginner with a problem. As part of a university project I'm writing a Perl tool to process text files and correct common English grammatical mistakes. What I need my program to do is as follows: 1. Read a line from the input file. 2. Chomp off the \n. 3. Read the next line from the file. 4. Concatenate as follows: $double_line = $line_1." ".$line_2 5. Do some grammar checks. 6. Write the corrected line(s) to the output file. I then need to read line 2 again, concatenate it to line 3, check, then...

How to read a RS232-barcodescanner inside of an say/get/read
hi, I have a problem and dont know how to solve it. Inside a READ command I have to read the input of a RS232-Barcodescanner. To read the scanner I can use the COM-functions. Help: Program to read from EOR end of last read?
Hello, I am looking for a way to look at a log from the last time I've read it and look for a specific string. For example, I have a logfile called /var/adm/messages, and I am looking for an error string like "ERROR: Loss of sync" I know how to open the log and search for the error, but I want to avoid reporting the same error multiple times. For instance, if I find an error at 01:00 AM and send a page to a support team, when the program/script runs every 10 minutes, I don't want to page again if I already alerted for it. In the past I would catch the error and ...

program hangs on read(2) call

Get paid to read emails #2
I have found the easiest way of making money fast using nothing but your computer. It has nothing to do with filling in surveys or trying to sell something to friends or family. What we have here is a chance to get paid to read your email. We all get everyday, and lots of it, so why not get paid for it??? Makes sense. I have a list 15 sites that pay you too look at the emails they send you. And no i am not talking about only getting $.05 - $.10 per email. What i am talking about is getting $10 - $400 or more an email. Imagine how fast your bank account will grow with that kind of payout. You will probably say the same thing i did when I heard of this, it is too good to be true. But this is a legitimate off and to prove to you I am going to give you the details now of a site that will pay $400 per email. I have made $24000 from this site alone. I have made over $55,000 in just 3 days... This is not to brag how much I am earning, but to let you know how fast your bank account can grow All these sites are free to join and you get paid via paypal or other Internet paying sites. I personally only use paypal. Take a look at the following sites and see if what I am telling you is correct, Here is the sight: http://www.onedollarmail.com/pages/index.php?refid=trupal2 http://www.500pounds-and-500pence.com/pages/index.php?refid=trupal2 http://tendollarsmail.com/pages/index.php?refid=trupal2 http://nominimum-payout.com...
