not able to get correct initial ticket

hi,
I am working with MIT kerberos 1.6.3 . I did kinit to get initial ticket with lifetime 2 hrs. So I used both H and small h for respresenting the lifetime hour value.
In case of small h, it worked properply.

  [root@linux bin]# /usr/local/bin/kinit -l 2h admin/admin
Password for admin/admin@MITREALM:
[root@linux bin]# /usr/local/bin/klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0
Default principal: admin/admin@MITREALM
  Valid starting Expires Service principal
11/22/07 07:28:23 11/22/07 09:28:23 krbtgt/MITREALM@MITREALM

Now when I used H , it didn't spit any error msg , but the ticket generated was not having lifetime 2 hours.

  [root@linux bin]# /usr/local/bin/kinit -l 2H admin/admin
Password for admin/admin@MITREALM:
[root@linux bin]# /usr/local/bin/klist
Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0
Default principal: admin/admin@MITREALM
  Valid starting Expires Service principal
11/22/07 07:31:27 11/22/07 07:31:29 krbtgt/MITREALM@MITREALM

what can be the problem ? Please suggest..

  Thanks in advance

Server not found in Kerberos database while getting a service url ticket
hello, I have added to my kerberos database the following principal: "http://localhost:8080/axis/services/test" . (It' s in a url format instead of being in the format: service/host@REALM.) So, the thing is that I would like to acquire a service ticket for that principal. To request a service ticket I am using gss api and follow the next steps: class KrbClient{ main(){ ..... //I have acquired the credentials from the ticket cache .... PrincipalName serviceName = new PrincipalName("http://localhost:8080/axis/services/test"); // create the tgs_req to ask for service tickets sun.security.krb5.KrbTgsReq tgs_req = new sun.security.krb5.KrbTgsReq(credentials, serviceName); tgs_req.send(); // get tgs_rep KrbTgsRep tgs_rep = tgs_req.getReply(); } } and it gets the folllowing error: KrbException: Server not found in Kerberos database (7) at sun.security.krb5.KrbTgsRep.<init>(KrbTgsRep.java:67) at sun.security.krb5.KrbTgsReq.getReply(KrbTgsReq.java:235) at KrbClient.requestServiceTicket(KrbClient.java:142) at KrbClient.main(KrbClient.java:39) Caused by: KrbException: Identifier doesn't match expected value (906) at sun.security.krb5.internal.KDCRep.init(KDCRep.java:134) at sun.security.krb5.internal.TGSRep.init(TGSRep.java:59) at sun.security.krb5.internal.TGSRep.<init>(TGSRep.java:54) at sun.security.krb5.KrbTgsRep.<init>(KrbTgsRep.java:50) ... 3 more >From the debugging of gss api: >>>KRBError: sTime is Mon ...

kprop: Key table entry not found while getting initial ticket
I try to take good notes so that I can reproduce my problems and successes. This week is the first time I have ever touched kerberos. I am using Red Hat ES3 and the default rpms. The short of it: kdb5_util dump /var/kerberos/krb5kdc/dump kprop -f /var/kerberos/krb5kdc/dump mail.eamc.net kprop: Key table entry not found while getting initial ticket Now what? My guess is that I am not asking for the correct ticket for kpropd. A normal inetd.conf entry would be: krb5_prop stream tcp nowait root /usr/kerberos/sbin/kpropd kpropd My thinking is that the second kpropd is my principal. However, my xinetd entry does not. I have tried it both ways so am sending everything I have to the list. I have also changed my logging from the basic stuff in RH to: kdc = SYSLOG:INFO:LOCAL1 admin_server = SYSLOG:INFO:LOCAL2 hoping I would get more debug information, but no dice. I have googled, read the docs in /usr/share/doc/krb5-server/ and done this twice. I am very frustrated and would appreciate any help. # cat /etc/xinetd.d/krb5_prop # 2004-01-27 Jud Bishop # description: kpropd is the propagation daemon for Kerberos service krb5_prop { flags = KEEPALIVE socket_type = stream wait = no user = root server = /usr/kerberos/sbin/kpropd # server = /usr/kerberos/sbin/kpropd kpropd # server_args = kpropd enable = yes } How I got here: Make sure you have NT...

Getting Kerberos ticket to extract user credentials in my site for login
Hi, I am new to Kerberos and just want to know that how can I get the user credentials from Kerberos service ticket in my application for login purpose. I want to implement Kerberos in such a way that my Active Directory user does not need to login to the my site and user just sends the request from browser and my site takes the Kerberos service ticket from the user in HTTP header and logs in the user automatically by getting the credentials from the Kerberos ticket and user accesses the site. Please do tell me that it can be done or not, if possible then how can I do it. Dump to slave fails; "Password has expired while getting initial ticket"
I've been happily using Kerberos as a single signon on my little home network for the past 6 1/2 months. In root's crontab on the master KDC I have a line that calls a shellscript that dumps the database and calls kprop to distribute it to a slave server every 15 minutes. Today I noticed that the propagation process last succeeded about ten days or so, specifically right after the six-month anniversary of my having started using Kerberos (and having had my primary user's Kerberos password expire for the first time). Let us assume I am on realm EXAMPLE.COM in network example.com. When, on my master KDC, I type $ sudo kprop -f /var/kerberos/krb5kdc/slave_datatrans \ slave_server.example.com I am told /usr/kerberos/sbin/kprop: Password has expired while getting initial ticket (And yes, kpropd is already running on slave_server.) Is this a case of one of the kadmin principals' passwords also having expired? If so, is it kadmin/admin, kadmin/changepw, kadmin/history, or what? (For that matter, what are these principals for, anyway?) Or am I misunderstanding the error message? On a separate note, when looking through the list of principals, I noted a mysterious K/M@EXAMPLE.COM I don't remember creating. Based on Last modified: Thu Feb 24 21:04:42 PST 2005 (db_creation@EXAMPLE.COM) (The date I started using Kerberos) I presume it's some sort of administrative entry, but what does it do? -- <URL:http://www.pobox.com/~ylee/...

Kerberos 4 Ticket Granting Ticket
I have installed zephyr, which uses kerberos 4 rather than 5. My installation of the debian packaged, MIT kerberos distribution is working without problem. I enabled full kerberos 4 support. Following instructions, I added the principle zephyr/wum.lat@LAT to my kerberos database, then extracted it to a kerberos 4 srvtab. How to get correct initial values from Xilinx Vertex II single port distributed ram with ModelSim
Hi, I would like to ask for your help with a problem I met in simulation with ModelSim. I generated single port distributed ram with initial file *.mif successfully with Xilinx chip Vertex II. When I started debugging the design, I found all single port distributed ram were not initialized. All their outputs are 'X'. I changed my design to make its inputs signal are constant, the results are still 'X'. I changed initial file name and when running ModelSim it showed errors. It shows ModelSim reads the initial file. What should I do with ModelSim single port distributed ram ...

Can't Get Kerberos & ssh to forward authentication / tickets (ssh without entering password)
Hi All - this is really bugging me - I can't get this to work. I have everything working - ssh, pam, ldap, etc., but ssh always asks me for a password, even when I have a valid kerberos ticket (I can login fine if I entry my kerberos password). I've searched and searched for the answer, but haven't found anything that helps me :(. We have this working at another site with openssh 3.6p1, but 4.2p1 doesn't like me. Has anybody accomplished this with a newer version of openssh (one that no longer supports the "KerberosTgtForward yes" option)? Getting Correct Colors
This would be a general photo printing question, but the printer being used is the Canon i950. I have a picture of some Crocuses of some sort that are a light violet color. I knew going in that this is a hard color to reproduce, but it happened again. I have never been able to get it quite right. It comes out pink, rather than violet in color. The computer monitor shows it the right color. I tried adjusting some colors in the printer drivers, but to no avail. Is there a secret to this, or is this typical? Gary Eickmeier It is seductively easy to get good color using current digital processes: it is maddeningly frustrating to try to consistently get accurate color.Welcome to the world of color management. I would suggest reading any of the many Photoshop books that cover the concepts of color gamuts, color profiles and color workflow management. I don't pretent to fully understand it but you get the general concepts. If you are serious about trying to obtain reasonably accurate color reproduction it is worthwhile investing in a good quality CRT monitor and a device to calibrate your monitor. You also need to run some trial prints to understand what changing the driver settings of your printer does. Whatever algorithm you develop applies only to that one particular type of paper and ink (stay with the OEM brand of cartridge). For example, on my Epson 1280 printer the same driver settings yield very different colors using Epson Color Lif...

kerberos tickets and the SPNs
I'm setting up a Solaris 10 server as a test samba server with AD authentication. I'm running into a little bit of issue with Kerberos tickets. The setup is as follows Solaris-10, Windows AD-2003/R2, native Solaris (sparc) samba, Kerberos, LDAP (shipped with the distro) and IMU on windows. My LDAP client is working good and validates getent passwd <user> and can run ldaplist -l passwd <user> and ldapsearch, no issues. My ldap autnetication is set to simple, with proxyDnuser. On Solaris I'm very sure I setup the krb5.conf, smb.conf, pam.conf, nsswitch.conf, ntp.conf perfectly. The nsswitch is set to use 'files ldap' for both passwd and group and dns files for hosts. On windows the IMU, UNIX attributes are set to the correct NIS domain. I ran net ads join to successfully join the Solaris server into the AD, however net ads keytab create simply returns a new line without any errors. When I checked on windows, after net ADS join command, I see two service principals (SPN), the capitalization is intentional as this is how they appear when I run spnset hostname HOST/HOSTNAME HOST/hostname.domain.com (FQDN) I also setup a service account name (user object) on Windows whose name is same as the hostname (computer object).
