I would like to have someone from the MIT Kerberos team or in the know, =
please describe each version or the purpose behind each. Why are the =
older versions being kept and updated, instead of just the newest =
version? I think I know the answer, but, I wondered if a description or =
the purpose of each version exists somewhere.

Thank you,
Tareq

verifiing 8.1.7.4.1 upgrade to 8.1.7.4.x
I have upgraded our test 8.1.7.4.1 database to 8.1.7.4.13. I would like to verify this fact. In the readme it does state that all the products will not display the version number 8.1.7.4.13, because it's a cummulative patch. I would like to see at least one file with the version number greater than 8.1.7.4.1 querying the database, v$instance still yields 8.1.7.4.1 Any ideas? thanks Try (might need as SYS) column comp_name format a35 column status format a20 column version format a11 select comp_name, status, substr(version,1,10) as version from dba_registry order by comp_name; ...

Displaying x^1 as x^-1 and not as 1/x
I was having hard time getting Mathematica to display x^-1 as x^-1 and not as 1/x. So I tried Maple 14, and it also does the same. So I thought I ask the maple experts here if there is a way to do this in Maple. This was my orginal question, I am posting it here for the Maple group. When I type x^-1 Maple replies 1/x Is there a way to tell Maple to *display* terms with negative powers as x^-n and not as 1/x^n ? (i.e keep the term just like it would appear on paper). Another example, suppose I type expr = a*x^-2 + b *x^-1 + The reason I want to do this, is just for display purposes. When I print the expression on the screen, I'd like it to look like x^-1 and not like 1/x (to better match how the expression look like in the textbook) thanks --Nasser On Jul 3, 12:50=A0am, "Nasser M. Nasser, >Is there a way to tell Mathematica to >*display* terms with negative >powers as x^-n and not as 1/x^n ? There are many things that you will have to consider, but here goes a start: MakeBoxes[Power[x_, y_?(NumberQ[#] && Negative[#] &)], TraditionalForm] := SuperscriptBox[MakeBoxes[x, TraditionalForm], MakeBoxes[y, TraditionalForm]] MakeBoxes[Times[c_, p : Power[x_, y_?(NumberQ[#] && Negative[#] &)]], TraditionalForm] := If[OrderedQ[{c, p}], RowBox[{MakeBoxes[c, TraditionalForm], MakeBoxes[p, TraditionalForm]}...

(x
I feel like a small child asking this, but how can I get Mathematica to say (x - 1) instead of (-1 + x), or to give me 4 (1 - q) instead of the doubly annoying -4 (-1 + q) ? In brief, given the choice, I prefer to look at subtraction rather than negation. The binary operator instead of the unary. I'm not asking Mathematica to read my mind about the way I want every possible expression to look, rather I am hoping to find out how to transform something I don't like into something I like, in a way that is guaranteed not to change the value of the expression. NAT: 1-1 mapping from 192.168.x.x to 10.168.x.x ?
Hi, I have a machine on a 192.168.x.x network that I would like to configure in such a way that it believes to be in 10.168.x.x. In other words, if a packet comes in from, say, 192.168.3.4, I would like it to be mangled as it was coming from 10.168.3.4. In the same way, I would like outgoing packets for 10.168.x.x to be mapped to 192.168.x.x. I read the iptables manual and found out abount DNAT and SNAT, but it seems what they do at most is mangle addresses into a pool of addresses, is a round robin fashion. I don't need round robin. I need a 1-1 mapping. Anybody knows if this is doab...

What is the difference between Java JRE 5.x and 6.x (1.5.x / 1.6.x) ???
What exactly is the difference between the JRE 5.x and 6.x (or 1.5.x and 1.6.x) versions of the Sun Java Runtime Engine for windows? Why does Sun maintain 2 different versions or streams or forks of the JRE? Is it true that version 5 was supposed to have an EOL this past October - or was it always EOL in October 2009? How would my "internet browsing experience" be different if my system had the latest update of version 5 versus version 6? Is it true that version 6 is somehow optimized or faster than 5? sm5w2@yahoo.com wrote: > What exactly is the difference between the JRE 5....

Problem in "X (1).Re := X (1).Re + 1"
This is a thought experiment. First, in RM 4.1.6: * when the generalized_indexing is used within a primary where a name denoting a constant is permitted. This means declare package V is new Vectors (Complex); X : V.Vector; begin X (1).Re := X (1).Re + 1; end; is interpreted as declare package V is new Vectors (Complex); X : V.Vector; begin Reference (X, 1).Element.all.Re := Constant_Reference (X, 1).Element.all.Re + 1; end; Is this OK? If this is the truth, and if Vectors is implemented by reference-counting. (I don't know copy-on-write is permitted in Ada.Contain...

conversion aid for 1.8.7 to 1.9.x transition?
It seems odd that I've not seen this question here before, but maybe I missed it (or just don't get it on some deeper level!): My current project require some libraries (e.g., CSV) that have been altered in 1.9. It's be comforting to know that when the time comes there's some quick way to flag the areas of my code that need attention if they're to run OK in 1.9. Yeah, it's be great if I had a test suite. but honestly, it's all I can do to get the code together in the first place. Tests are high on my todo list, but my need for my current project is higher by...

ruby in the government
one of the biggest stumbling blocks to the widespread adoption of ruby in my lab is the fact what we've standardized on redhat enterprise for all of our boxen. it ships with 1.6.8. this is a sorry state of affairs and i wonder why it should be so. the perl and python versions are resonable, thought not cutting edge - any rational behind this? anyone know how to go about changing it? on a related note - anyone know of a compatability layer to bridge 1.6.8 to 1.8.x for cgi libs specifically? does the/a shim do this - the only one i have doesn't seem too... the cgi interface chang...

Hi all, It's been a busy week or two at Pixelglow Software. Here's a brand new version of Graphviz, all spit and polish now. You'll enjoy the integrated color and font panel support, hand cursor panning and remembered settings. And everyone's most asked for -- a single click on the Edit tool will now bring up the DOT code for you to edit, and of course when you save it the graph automatically re-renders. http://www.pixelglow.com/graphviz/download/ Here's the lowdown: Added edit, render and stop toolbar items [PCh]. Added integrated font and color fields and panels. Added hand cursor panning [AM]. Added autocomplete for most fields [NRi]. Added support for user defaults ("Remember Settings" menu command, command line arguments to GUI) [JSc, RPa]. Fixed click on popup menu unexpectedly selecting "..." [AM]. Fixed small zooms sometimes preventing full scrolling [DJu]. Fixed allowing fonts starting with "." to be selected [NRi]. Fixed transparent backgrounds rendering opaque in bitmap output. Fixed width or height > 32767 pixels unexpectedly cropping bitmap output [AM]. Improved toolbar interaction. Improved settings descriptions and tooltips. Dear All, I've just released the newest version of Mac Graphviz, featuring shapefile support and enhanced zoom. http://www.pixelglow.com/graphviz/ Shapefiles supported include PDF, EPS, PS, JPEG, PNG and all Quicktime formats. Either specify an absolute or relative (to working directory) file path, or a URL using the shapefile attribute. Developers can now also use the graphviz.framework directly with #include headers in C e.g. using Xcode "Add Frameworks..."; documentation is available from the main Graphviz site -- http://www.research.att.com/sw/tools/graphviz/libguide.pdf Changes ------- Added drawer and zoom menu commands [DWa, NRi]. Added intelligent window zooming [NRi]. Added shapefile support. Added UTF-8 support [RSc]. Added cvtgxl, gvpack and gvpr tools [BSw]. Fixed page setup then close unexpectedly invoking save dialog [PRo]. HTML-like labels now work on 10.2 (use embedded expat instead of libxml2). Improved internal frameworks (added headers, consolidated dylibs). Tracked main build of 23 June. Graphviz is still free, but I'm now accepting donations for it. Enjoy!
