unresolved external symbol __imp__GSS_C_NT_HOSTBASED_SERVICE for kerberos 1.3 windows version

Hi,

I tried to build a sample windows program by using kerberos 1.3 win version, in this program I use gss_import_name() and it takes (gss_OID) GSS_C_NT_HOSTBASED_SERVICE as a parameter. However during the link time it always complains as subject title. I "dumpbin/exports" all the .lib (gssapi32.lib, krb5_32.lib, comerr32.lib and xpprof32.lib) however none of them contains this symbol. The odd thing is it's declared in the header file and it's definition is in gssapi_generic.c actually so supposedly it should be somewhere unless I built the libraries wrong. However I pretty much followed the build instruction in README under /src/windows.

Right now I can copy the definition from gss_generic.c to my file and make it work however I'm wondering I might miss something here. Any idea?

Thx.

Kent

As far as I am aware that symbol is not being exported by the
gssapi32.dll. In my previous GSSAPI projects the OIDs table must be
defined by the application on Windows.

I thought we had intended to fix this for 1.3.

This is a problem with the way GSSAPI defines these, and how the constant OIDs get
implemented. On on implementation where all lib exports everything it is not a problem.
at least for the required OIDs. With a system like Windows where not everything is exported
you can have this problem.

Your approach of defining the OID in your code is the more generic approach. You would also
need to do this if you wanted to use multiple implementations some of which did not
understand the OIDs of the other.

Kerberos 1.3.1 on HPUX ?
Hi, Has anybody successfully compiled/built Kerberos 1.3.1 on HPUX (11, 11i, 10.20) ? The HP ANSI C compiler (to be accurate, the cpp.ansi pre-processor) on my system dies with signal 11 when it tries to process aestab.c, and there is no other error message. In addition, HPUX doesn't have "inet_ntop()", and the MIT version of "inet_ntop" macro is causing error due to the incompatible data types. The error message is: cc: "dispatch.c", line 58: error 1647: Illegal integer-pointer combination for second and third operands of conditional expression (?:). I'm wondering whether I can re-implement a C version of inet_ntop() to replace the macro one? If somebody has already built krb5 1.3.1 on any of HPUX, can you do a "swlist -l product" and let me know what version of HP ANSI C compiler you have on your HPUX system? HP-UX 11i problem (Kerberos version 1.3.5)
I'm having problems getting the compile to work on HP-UX. I've looked over the lists history and it seems like different problems pop up with HP-UX with every new version. So far I haven't seen anything for the latest version. I get diffent problems depending on which of the following configure methods I try. If someone can tell me which of the following is most appropriate, I can post more specifics about where the process is stopping. I've tried: ../configure CC=gcc ../configure CC='gcc -ansi' ../configure CC='gcc -std=c89' ../configure CC='/opt/ansic/bin/cc -Ae' ../configure CC='/opt/ansic/bin/cc' Like I've said, most of these methods generate completely different errors from eachother. Some die durring the configure step, others die durring the make. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks, __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! RHEL 3.0 and Kerberos 1.3.4
G'day All, I've attempting to get kerberos installed and configured on a RHEL 3.0 server. Originally RHEL came with kerberos 1.2.7. I located and installed from rpm the 1.3.4 version of kerberos. Compiling MIT Kerberos 1.3.3...or should I say NOT compiling
For starters, I've only experimented with Linux through the years. Loading it to see what progress it has mad. Simply put, I'm a noob. A little history. I'm trying to get Linux into my corporate Windows 2003 ADS tree. I can join ADS and have successfully shared directories to my ADS groups. Experiments have been somewhat successful but I have trouble repeating the process. I say its somewhat successful because authentication is sporadic at best. I think I've narrowed it down to multiple versions of Kerberos. One version is installed at O/S load time, 1.2.7 (/usr/kerberos) and one I'm trying to upgrade to (/usr/local - in the MIT binaries). I'm trying to compile Kerberos 1.3.3 to /usr/kerberos with: ../configure --prefix=/usr/kerberos make Its failing with the make command. I should point out that it fails with the make command even if I do not specify the --prefix. Using dns with kerberos-1.6.3 on AIX 5.3
Greetings list, I am trying to build kerberos-1.6.3 on an AIX 5.3 platform using --enable-dns --enable-dns-for-kdc --enable-dns-for-realm. It would appear that the ./configure script is not finding -lresolv in AIX. However, this seems to work fine on my Linux systems which seem to function properly with --enable-dns and are able to find -lresolv provided by glibc. I've tried symlinking libresolv.a to libc.a on the AIX system, but I still get the same error from kerberos after rebuilding when I try to use kinit with a realm who's KDC SRV records are published in DNS. Is there any workaround to be able to use --enable-dns on systems, like AIX, without -lresolv? Or am I missing something? Thanks in advance. ...

I have a few questions about the new Kerberos for Windows (KfW) on MIT's website and the new Network Identity Manager (NIM) on Secure Endpoints website. - What's different between KfW-3.2.2 and KfW-3.2.3.alpha on MIT's website? Are there any release notes for 3.2.3.alpha? - At the end of the KfW-3.2.3.alpha install, there's a question: Ensure that the Kerberos tickets are available throughout the Windows login session What does this mean? And how is this setting configured? I couldn't find a difference in what was installed or in the registry depending on if this was enabled or not. - Exactly how "alpha" is 3.2.3? Based on the dates here: http://web.mit.edu/kerberos/dist/kfw/3.2/kfw-3.2.3-alpha1/ It looks like it's been on the website for almost 1.5 years, which seems like quite a while... are there plans to release this at some point? - Does 3.2.3 include the new NIM 2.0 from Secure Endpoints website? - Can NIM 2.0 (from Secure Endpoints) be installed over top KfW 3.2.3.alpha? And if so, is it a wise thing to do? ...

No idea, but Debian is distributing 1.3 beta5. There were no code changes between 1.3 beta5 and the actual 1.3 release. The only thing that changed was version numbers and release notes. See http://ftp.debian.org/debian/pool/k/krb5. Look at krb5_1.2.99-1.3.beta5.orig.tar.gz for inmodified MIT sources. Debian will presumably pick up the 1.3 release relatively soon. ________________________________________________ Kerberos mailing list Kerberos@mit.edu https://mailman.mit.edu/mailman/listinfo/kerberos I am trying to write a script to create users. You may view the README file on our website. Poland's government might impose restrictions on the use of cryptographic software; I am not familiar with the laws there. As stated in the license in the README file, compliance with export regulations of the US is the responsibility of whomever is contemplating export. The homepage for the krb5-1.3 release is h...

RE: MIT Kerberos and Solaris 10 Kerberos #3
Thanks for the response. Please see inline... > In Solaris 10, all of the Kerberos services are already bundled, > there is no longer any external packages that need to be added. Right. > Whoever told you 'ksu' was part of the encryption kit was mistaken, > ksu has never been part of SEAM. OK, thanks for that clarification. It was a bit of a surprise to me when I was told it was there. So, does the Solaris 10 SEAM have any functionality similar to ksu, or just the standard su command? > The encryption kit for Solaris 10 enhances the overall crypto > capabilities of the system, the only benefit Kerberos gets is > that it can support AES-256 with the S10 encryption kit. > Without the S10 encryption kit, the strongest AES crypto > available for Kerberos in S10 is AES-128. And this fits more with what I understood, before my co-worker's comments. > On the S10 system, you must make sure to enable the "eklogin" service. > Run this command (as root): > > # svcadm enable eklogin Hmm. That may be a good part of my problem. I added the inetd.conf entry for the old (MIT) eklogin, and ran inetconv. So, this is probably really confusing the system. I'll try to revert that, and do the svcadm. > For Solaris 8 with the SEAM rlogin daemon, make sure your > inetd.conf entries > are correct. We don't actually run SEAM on any Sol8 systems; it's all MIT. > Don't bother with inetd.conf in S10, ...

unresolved external symbol #3
When I try to build the code below I get the error: main.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol "class NS::DerA __cdecl NS::operator+(class NS::DerB,class NS::Base const &)" (??HNS@@YA?AVDerA@0@VDerB@0@ABVBase@0@@Z) referenced in function _main I'm using VS2005, and I have no idea how to fix this error. I' tried to define the operator in DerB.h (with including DerA.h) and it didn't solve the problem. Any Ideas? Thx! /** Base.h **/ namespace NS { class Base{...} } /************/ /** DerA.h **/ namespace NS { class DerA : public Base{...} } /*******...
