ANN: RubyInstaller - Release Candidate 2
I'm pleased to announce the second Release Candidate of the latest RubyInstaller packages. For those not already familiar with RubyInstaller, these versions continue the great work started with the original One-Click Installers by providing both 1.8 and 1.9 versions of MRI Ruby for Windows. RubyInstaller now uses a different compilation tool than the legacy One-Click Installers. As a result, when combined with our optional Development Kit, it is now possible to install RubyGems that, until today, were not readily or easily available to Windows users. This release also focuses on improvi...

ssh from windows xp (putty with kerberos) using NetIDMgr 1.1.8.0 (Kerberos for windows 3.1)
Has anyone got a version of putty to work with the Kerberos for Windows release 3.1? I'm running win xp and am able to get my kerberos 5 tokens fine (from CSAIL.MIT.EDU) in NetIDMgr, but I've tried various supposedly kerberos-aware versions of putty with no luck. 3DLDF Release 1.1.5 and 1.1.5.1
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Release of 3DLDF 1.1.5. 3DLDF is a GNU package for three-dimensional drawing with MetaPost output. It is available from http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/3dldf and other ftp servers. Please see the author's website, http://wwwuser.gwdg.de/~lfinsto1 and http://www.gnu.org/directory/graphics/3D/3DLDF.html for more information. In release 1.1.5, I've tied up some loose ends. I wanted to do this before starting on the input routine. * Added `const real step' argument to the version of Ellipse::intersection_points() that takes an Ellipse argument. * BUG FIX: Added `touch 3DLDFmp.mp' to the `3DLDFmp.mp' target in 3DLDF-1.1.5/CWEB/Makefile.am. This ensures that TeX and dvips will be run if MetaPost is run on `3DLDFmp.mp'. This happens if `3DLDFput.mp' is newer than `3DLDFmp.mp', but the latter isn't changed, so TeX and dvips weren't being run. I'm surprized nobody's complained about this. Not yet documented in the _3DLDF User and Reference Manual_. * Added `PHONY' targets as synonyms for certain targets: `cpl' for `3dldf'. For compiling and linking `3dldf'. `mp' for `3DLDFmp.mp'. For running MetaPost on `3DLDFmp.mp'. `ldf' for `3DLDFput.mp'. For running `3dldf'. Not yet documented in the _3DLDF User and Reference Manual_. * It is now possible to ``typedef'' ...

J2ME: javac: target release 1.1. conflicts with default source release 1.5

[RELEASED] Release candidates for Python 2.6.8, 2.7.3, 3.1.5, and 3.2.3
We're pleased to announce the immediate availability of release candidates for Python 2.6.8, 2.7.3, 3.1.5, and 3.2.3 . The main impetus for these releases is fixing a security issue in Python's hash based types, dict and set, as described below. Python 2.7.3 and 3.2.3 include the security patch and the normal set of bug fixes. Since Python 2.6 and 3.1 are maintained only for security issues, 2.6.8 and 3.1.5 contain only various security patches. The security issue exploits Python's dict and set implementations. Since Python 2.6 and 3.1 are maintained only for security issues, 2.6.8 and 3.1.5 contain only various security patches. The security issue exploits Python's dict and set implementations. Carefully crafted input can lead to extremely long computation times and denials of service. [1] Python dict and set types use hash tables to provide amortized constant time operations. Hash tables require a well-distributed hash function to spread data evenly across the hash table. The security issue is that an attacker could compute thousands of keys with colliding hashes; this causes quadratic algorithmic complexity when the hash table is constructed. To alleviate the problem, the new releases add randomization to the hashing of Python's string types (bytes/str in Python 3 and str/unicode in Python 2), datetime.date, and datetime.datetime. This prevents an attacker from computing colliding keys of these types without access to the Python process. Hash randomization causes the iteration order of dicts and sets to be unpredictable and differ across Python runs. Python has never guaranteed iteration order of keys in a dict or set,...

[RELEASED] Second release candidates for Python 2.6.8, 2.7.3, 3.1.5, and 3.2.3
We're chuffed to announce the immediate availability of the second release candidates for Python 2.6.8, 2.7.3, 3.1.5, and 3.2.3. The only change from the first release candidates is the patching of an additional security hole. The security issue fixed in the second release candidates is in the expat XML parsing library. expat had the same hash security issue detailed below as Python's core types. The hashing algorithm used in the expat library is now randomized. A more thorough explanation of the "hash attack" security hole follows. The main impetus for these releases is fi...

Problem installing matplotlib 1.3.1 with Python 2.7.6 and 3.3.3 (release candidate 1)
Hello, I tried to install matplotlib 1.3.1 on the release candidates of Python 2.7.6 and 3.3.3. I am on Mac OS X 10.6.8. Although the installation gave no problems, there is a problem with Tcl/Tk. The new Pythons have their own embedded Tcl/Tk, but when installing matplotlib it links to the Frameworks version of Tcl and TK, not to the embedded version. This causes confusion when importing matplotlib.pyplot: objc[70648]: Class TKApplication is implemented in both /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/libtk8.5.dylib and /Library/Frameworks/Tk.framework/Versions/8.5/Tk. Which one is undefined. objc[70648]: Class TKMenu is implemented in both /Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.7/lib/libtk8.5.dylib and /Library/Frameworks/Tk.framework/Versions/8.5/Tk. For this the matplotlib setupext.py should be ad...

Spirit 1.8.5 and 1.6.4 released
It is my pleasure to announce the release of Spirit 1.8.5 and 1.6.4 . Spirit is a C++ parser generator framework that uses techniques such as template meta-programming and expression templates to allow expressing one's grammars in a syntax that's as close to EBNF as C++'s own syntax allows. You may learn more about it here: http://spirit.sourceforge.net/ Spirit is part of the Boost collection of libraries (http://boost.org). Spirit 1.8.5 is a standalone variant of the version that is included in Boost 1.34.1; it doesn't provide new features, but contains all the fixes that were applied since Spirit 1.8.4 . You can download Spirit 1.8.5 here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=28447&package_id=20317&release_id=536340 http://tinyurl.com/36sj7f Spirit 1.6.4 is the latest in a series of releases that are based on an earlier implementation that is friendlier towards older, less standard compliant compilers. This is a bug fix only release and is likely to be the final 1.6.x version. Spirit 1.6.4 is available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=28447&package_id=20317&release_id=536348 http://tinyurl.com/3dnnhv Both Spirit 1.8.5 and 1.6.4 are available in the following variants: Library only (the spirit-1.x.y.zip / spirit-1.x.y.tar.gz files) - These contain only Spirit itself and require an existing Boost installation. Both were tested only with Boost 1.34.0 and 1.34.1, but should work with other reason...
