    SYNOPSIS:
Numerous symbols searched for by an application are not found in libACE.so

    DESCRIPTION:
libACE.so is built on AIX71 using XL C/C++ v12.1/ LD 7.1.2

Same compiler/linker are used to build our application.

Our application fails to start with rtld 0712-001 errors:

rtld: 0712-001 Symbol select__6ACE_OSFiP6fd_setN22RC14ACE_Time_Value was re=
ferenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=

rtld: 0712-001 Symbol rand_r__6ACE_OSFPUi was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=

      of the symbol was not found.
rtld: 0712-001 Symbol strncasecmp__6ACE_OSFPCcPCcUl was referenced

rtld: 0712-001 Symbol inet_ntoa__6ACE_OSF7in_addr was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=

      of the symbol was not found.
rtld: 0712-001 Symbol avoid_zombies__19ACE_Process_OptionsFi was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=
me definition
      of the symbol was not found.
rtld: 0712-001 Symbol mkdir__6ACE_OSFPCcUi was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=
me definition
      of the symbol was not found.
rtld: 0712-001 Symbol getcwd__6ACE_OSFPcUl was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=
me definition
      of the symbol was not found.
rtld: 0712-001 Symbol system__6ACE_OSFPCc was referenced
      from module /home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71/libGenSys.so(), but a runti=
me definition
      of the symbol was not found.

None of the symbols identified when 'nm' command is run on libACE.so:

/home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71> nm libACE.so | grep getcwd__6ACE_OSFPcUl
/home/sambuild/Samantha/AIX71>

For comparison, this is the same command run on libACE.so.5.6.4 built on AI=
X61 with XL C/C++ v 9.0:

/usr/local/ACE/ace> nm libACE.so | grep getcwd
..ACE_OS::getcwd(char*,unsigned long) T   269864576         108
..ACE_OS::getcwd(char*,unsigned long) t   269864576         108
..ACE_OS::getcwd(wchar_t*,unsigned long) T   269864736         340
..ACE_OS::getcwd(wchar_t*,unsigned long) t   269864736         340
..getcwd              T   269864684
..getcwd              t   269864684          40
ACE_OS::getcwd(char*,unsigned long) -           0
ACE_OS::getcwd(char*,unsigned long) D   537076240          12
ACE_OS::getcwd(wchar_t*,unsigned long) -           0
ACE_OS::getcwd(wchar_t*,unsigned long) D   537076252          12
getcwd               U           -
getcwd               d   537099076           4

However, the symbols are not identified in libACE.so.6.2.0 built on AIX61 w=
ith XL C/C++ v 9.0.

Hi Eyal, I believe we've fixed these problems in the latest version of ACE that's tucked inside our CVS repository. Can you please take a look at this version available in http://deuce.doc.wustl.edu/Download.html and see if things work better. If not, please let us know so we can fix them before we release ACE 5.4.3 in a week or so. The permissions on those directories and files are read access to group and world so anyone should be able to read those include files. optimizer_features_enable difference between 9.2.0.1/9..2.0.3/9.2.0.6?
Hi, All, I noticed for this parameter optimizer_features_enable , oracle document says: Syntax OPTIMIZER_FEATURES_ENABLE = {8.0.0 | 8.0.3 | 8.0.4 | 8.0.5 | 8.0.6 | 8.0.7 | 8.1.0 | 8.1.3 | 8.1.4 | 8.1.5 | 8.1.6 | 8.1.7 | 9.0.0 | 9.0.1 | 9.2.0} I noticed when I keep it default to 9.2.0 in init.ora, in version 9.2.0.3 and 9.2.0.5 with exact same database and exact same init.ora, oracle CBO did choose different plan. So there is some difference between 9.2.0.X versioin for the CBO. Where can we get such information about the difference? Thanks On 12 Jul 2005 23:37:28 -0700, "ch...

What about C99 contra C89? Is C language constantly evolving language? Where would you put the limit for the improvements for the language C? If it ain't broke, why fix it?
