agent-based modelling with Matlab

  • Follow

Hello:

Need help here guys. I am very good with matlab..I would like to do
some research using agent-based modeling. I am wondering:

1) Does matlab have any agent-based capability? I look around and it
seems it does but I couldn't get anything specific..such as what is
needed to make it work (if any special package is needed, etc?)

2) What is the industry standard software for this? Would any paper I
do get done (if) will be down-looked by not using the standard
package?

3) Are there any freebie that is ALSO any good?

Thanks, guys, Hope someone help me here.

I hesitate to call it the industry standard, but Anylogic from XJTEK
is the primary commercial ABM software package. It isn't cheap.

Hi,

Simulink and SimEvents can support agent-based modeling, which are additional Mathworks products, that are integrated with MATLAB.

To learn more about how we support agent-based modeling, you can check out this webinar on Operations Research:
http://www.mathworks.com/company/events/webinars/wbnr62851.html?id=62851&p1=1031551614&p2=1031551619

I would be happy to answer any questions you have on these products.

Hi Teresa,
The application demonstrated in the webinar on Operations Research is very interesting. Can you please send me your contact details at das dot santanu at gmail dot com ? I want to talk to you about a few technical things, if that is fine with you.
Thanks in advance,
SD

Hi Santanu,

I did get your email. I will email you directly, but I also wanted to post
that there is a related Matlab Central posting with the model you were
interested in:
http://www.mathworks.com/matlabcentral/fileexchange/33058-a-simple-model-of-a-air-traffic-control-system

I wouldn't call it an air traffic control system. (I don't think we call it
that in the webinar.) But it does a good job of modeling different agents
which each have a pilot doing collision avoidance.

Thanks for getting in touch,
Teresa
