### bowman game

• Email
• Follow

```hello,
i'm trying to make a bowman game in 2D in Matlab where the bowman fires a bow and it moves in a parabolic path. The problem I'm facing is how to change the direction of the arrow at each instant so that the arrow moves in a semicircular path.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you
```Pick some length for the arrow, and the slope of the arrow at any
given x is just the derivative of your parabola function. Just
standard calculus or pre-calculus.   E.g. y = a0 + a1*x + a2*x.^2, so
slope = a1 + a2 * x.

So you know the center and two end points (from the point-slope
formula for a line) so you can then use line() to plot it.

games and game-engines
firstly a special thanks to wolfgang, sam brown, valins, fungus and Phil (i'll remember the diff) I didn't put opengl/DX as a debate, but i just wanted to clear my doubts on the industry/developer preference - your point of views help me better understand the issue and to take fresh look at it. well now the GL/DX issue cleared i have a few more queries, maybe the group could help. firstly i would like to know what do you actually mean by the term "game engine"? i had met a developer of EA sports once and he had told me that about 35% of the "engine" is coded usin...

Game
Create a game in a 3x3 HTML table that works as follows: * The goal of the game is to beat the computer by scoring more points than the computer. * The game starts when a hidden random number between 1 and 9 is placed in each cell. * The user and computer take turns by "clicking" on table cells. When a cell is "clicked" by the user, the user scores the number of hidden points in the cell. When the computer takes a turn, it "clicks on" a random cell that has not been clicked yet and adds the hidden points in the clicked cell to its scor * The user...

what game is this?
I recall downloading a shareware RPG (or perhaps it was merely a demo or even freeware...) for the 16-bit Windows 3.1. It was a top down, tile-based view somewhat like the middle Ultima games i suppose. You start out in a town and are able to leave it for the surrounding wilderness. After wandering around outside i came across a temple that reminded me of the Mayan pyramids but with a more South American feel perhaps due ot the nearby mountains. Starting in this game was very difficult and i remember treasuring the few swords i could find early on. This game was *not* Exile. I believe th...

Do digitized live action games still have a place in gaming?
Remember the 90s, when we had Mortal Kombat and the various games like Night Trap on the Sega CD? Those were good times. I was happy to see that videogaming was moving in the direction of live action and photo realism, but unfortunately ever since the late 90's gaming has taken a step backwith the decision to render everything in cgi. In my opinion, if gaming is to ever truly advance the companies must stop this rendering, cgi, fake looking crap and go back to digitized actors. The videogame companies have lost their way, but they can still find the path back and get on the right track. W...
