Hi All,

I have a column vector of numbers that I would like to extrapolate by "doubling up":

e.g. turn

6
8

into:
2
2
4
4
6

8
8

any ideas on an easy vectorised way to do this?

Though both of those options worked for x =[2;4;6;8], they didn't seem to work for x = 2:2:8??? (they were doubled but on top of each other, not 'sorted').

(the first way has [2;4;6;8] in the watch window, the 2nd has <4x1 double>)

any thoughts?

You specifically said "column" vector in your original post. x = 2:2:8 is not a column vector, it is a row vector. For row vectors you can use:

x = 2:2:8;
y = [x;x];
y = y(:);

Ahhh thanks, sorry about that - my data is actually (read in as a) a column but I had been 'playing around' with a 2:2:20... oops - thanks for the help :)

I have been prgramming other languages for over 10 years and am now working on a fairly complex matlab app. The normal programming complexity I can handle but in these early stages its the simple matrix manipluation that I am stumbling over...

I'm having a baffling problem. I've got Apache 2.2.3 and php 5.1.4 installed on a Windows 2000 Pro machine. I've enabled the libxslt extension by uncommenting the line "extension=php_xsl.dll" in php.ini, and my extension_dir is properly pointing to "c:\php\ext". OK, it worked for a while. The problem is the libxslt functions aren't working now, and when I run php_info() it doesn't show any xslt library. I swear it did just last week. Wasn't really the solution I came up with; but it worked. You might be correct since now the OpenSSL binaries will not build against the Kerberos libraries currently. libssl and libcrypto build fine along with everything else; but the actual openssl binary fails. I've been tasked with upgrading the JVM from 1.3 to 1.4, and the third party libraries used by my company on our existing Java framework. I'm most worried about any problems that may occur due to upgrading Xalan and Xerces as our framework performs much XML transformation and processing. I have a program and small library that I recently worked the bugs out of to my best understanding. I included a lot of debug output using #if defined(_DEBUG). that debug ouput is flushed at every instance. the library output shows with -g compiler switch, but not without. the main program's debug output always shows. can someone explain this? I have the #define on in both the library file and the main source and the header file. I think I am running into a compiler bug. and this doesn't happen with mingw-w64 (a gnu compiler for windows). I should mention, the program throws a SIGSEGV or SIGILL if I execute the program my normal way (with debug symbols stripped out with -s) and only 1 argument is partially processed and dies as soon as it hits the library. with -g, works perfect. apparently...

VSI Fax 4.1.1 and AIX 5.2.2
We are upgrading from AIX 4.3.3 to 5.2.2, and need to find out if the version of vsi fax will (has any chance) of working on the higher level os. I talked to Customer service at Esher (who now owns vsi fax) and they said that it was not supported and had not been tested on 5.2.2. They then suggested buying the newer version. We will most likely not be using VSI fax by the end of the year, so we would prefer not to buy something to use for only a couple of months. The conformance statement tells me that it is being supported as an SCU as well as a SCP. Can I expect that the application can create Enc. PDF documents of its own assesments? My supplier tells me that this application can only store received enc. PDF documents with this SOP Class. I thought that this SOP class also was for creation of the Enc. PDF document. Or do I need another SOP Class for this functionallity (Creation of Enc. GnuPG 1.2.4 make error in AIX 4.3.3
I have tried building gpg 1.2.4 from source and I get an error. For the first make error, I found a patch for util/secmem.c, so the make goes farther, but now I have a new error message, which I have posted below. I did find a VERY complicated patch for this specific error, but it was for an older version of source, like 1.0.6 or something, and I felt I shouldn't mix up versions. I have also tried two binaries from www.bullfreeware.com and get errors about "Symbol strsep". Any specific advice will be greatly appreciated. It works with the GNU libraries as well as the Dinkum libraries. I have made tests on x86 and PPC and most of the ACE tests succeed. Debug compilations as well as Release compilations work. Using other processor architectures should work. In order to get things running I have created 3 files that you will need to use (apart from obtaining the ACE/TAO sources). The three files are 1. config.h 2. config-qnx-nto-6.2.h 3. platform_qnx_nto_6.2.GNU The files are attached. If one of the ACE developers reads this I am asking you to include the files (at least files 2 & 3) in the next ACE/TAO release. Thanks. Here is the manual how to set things up: 1. Obtain the ACE/TAO release ACE-5.3.1+TAO-1.3.1.tar.gz and put it into your QNX home directory. 2. I'm running a local development set up of apache/php/mysql on a win 2000 system. For my sins I installed it using an all-in-one installer (foxserv) support for which now seems to have vanished. I have a very hazy idea about how it is configured (ok, I can do the php.ini stuff, but thats about all) I think its called 'learned incompetance' or 'life's too short' syndrome. Anyway, I really need to upgrade the PHP to 4.3.1 at least to match my web host's implementation. (let's not even think about v.5) I have been trying for over a week now to get this sorted, but everytime I think I've done it apache refuses to start and I have to revert to 4.2.2. defeated. I've read loads of frankly unhelpful or downright incomprehensible information and clutched at straws like ' just install over the old version...' but cannot get this sorted. It turns out the windows installer for 4.3.1 won't do Apache (tells you after you've started) and leaves you high and dry after hinting that maybe it's installed 4.3.1 but 'Apache needs manually configuring' - directing you to another incomprehensible .txt file for help! Now, I could just uninstall the lot ( no doubt that would be a nightmare too) and get a newer idiots installation package, but I'd obviously have to backup all my mysql databases.( 40+) etc.and it seems a tad brutal when all I actually need is php 4.3.1 OK, enough ranting, if anyone knows of a good guide to u...

HELP: Konqueror cookie behavior changed after upgrade from 3.4.2 to 3.4.2
I'm a Gentoo user, and I just updated KDE from 3.4.2 to 3.4.3. I've noticed a change in cookie behavior. I like to read slashdot, and I like to stay logged in. Once I've logged in, I stay logged in for any article that is right off of slashdot.org. But for any subdomain, such as apple.slashdot.org, it appears that the right cookie isn't sent, so it makes me appear logged out. I've looked at the configuration menus for cookies, but I can't find a setting that would affect this. I also tried clearing out all cookies for slashdot.org, to no effect. I'm sure this question has been posted but I've not found anydefinitive answer.I maintain a product line that consists of a dedicated Linux systemrunning Java to provide a GUI interface as a control system forunderlying hardware. I've been working to move to jdk 1.5 (not hardbut I'm busy) and now this new DST thing which is not covered by theversion I've been porting to (1.5.0-b64) makes me want to rethingabout going to the latest 1.6. It seems every version change hadproblems in the beginning and I didn't even try 1.6 because of that.Now I'm thinking about it again.Can anyone give me a level of comfort about just going to the latestjdk and jre? Is there an advantage to going to the latest 1.6 versusthe last 1.5? Problem of php_ldap.dll in appserv 2.4.3 and Problem of Apache server in appserv 2.5.3
when I used appserv-win32-2.4.3, everything is ok, but there is no ldap related functions support, I uncommented extension=php_ldap.dll in c:\winnt\php.ini, and thought everything will be allright, but I found there is no php_ldap.dll in $appserv\php\extensions\ or $appserv\php\ext\. Then I took php_ldap.dll of Appserv-win32-2.5.3 and tried to use it, but it is not work, so I reinstalled appserv-win32-2.5.3, but there is no response when I use http://localhost, http://localhost/test1.php is also no response, but under command line, I executed d:\>php test1.php works. 4.3.2 to 5.3 upgrade
We've inherited an old 4.3.2 pSeries that we need to upgrade to something newer for security reasons. I figure if we're gonna do that, we may as well upgrade to at least 5.2, and preferably 5.3. Assuming the application running on the box doesn't mind, is it possible to do a "simple" OS upgrade from 4.3.2 to 5.3 so we can keep all our configuration data, or will we be forced to do a fresh install? Anybody ever done an upgrade that spanned this many versions?
