Well it's your project and your idea, isn't it? So how were you
planning on doing it? If it's not your idea and you're just trying to
replicate what some paper is doing, then just do what the paper tells
you to do. I don't know what else to tell you. Or ask your professor
(or whomever), or pick another project. Because you're really not
giving us much to go on.

There are some algorithms based on hexagonal layout of pixels but I
believe they all use rectangular arrays and use special kernels with
two corners missing to "trick" the array and algorithm into thinking
it's a hexagonal array, but I don't want to get into that. And
frankly, I don't see what they offer in most cases. Perhaps if your
camera were the Fuji SuperCCD with the hexagonal pixel array and you
were using "RAW" images instead of the normal rectangular array that
it normally gives you then you might have an argument for needing a
hexagonal layout.

Convert xml to xls?
Hi all, does anyone know about an open-source tool or method that can convert a certain xml file to a spreadsheet (e.g. xls)? Can one import xml data in the OpenOffice program Calc? The problem is that the original xml file can be very long and the digit precision of some data fields is strictly required. Thanks a lot! Eroding a 3-d image
Hey everyone So I'm working on a project, and I was wondering if it was possible to erode a 3-d image created using patch. What I have is a set of points in a 100x100x100 grid, and I used patch to make an image of it. I want to erode some of the data points lying on the outside of the image. Any easy way to do this? convert list of strings to set of regexes; convert list of strings to trie

Like so: string_list = ["blaa", "blab", "raaa", "rabb"] print string_list2regexes(string_list) This should return something like: ["bla(a|b)", "ra(aa|bb)"] I am aware of the fact that converting the list to a *trie* would almost do the job. But I couldn't find anything about Python modules that produce tries. Are there any modules that I could use? Or do I have to implement it myself?
