Hi everyone, I am new with matlab and am having problems with a spectral analysis problem i'm trying to do. I need to perform spectral analysis of a signal consisting of 1000Hz, 1000.1Hz and 999.9Hz i.e., x=cos(2*pi*1000*t)+cos(2*pi*1000.1*t)+cos(2*pi*999.9*t) so that all the three peaks are seen. This is to be done using a windowing function like blackmann-harris/guassian. I wrote the m-file to obtain peak for only one frequency. I'm totally stumned with how to obtained all three frequency peaks. Here's my m-file I'm working on. Any ideas on what to choose for the value of L, N and Fs ???? What is the best way to import Excel files, with stock data, into Matlab? I’m using Matlab R2010b (64-bit) I’m trying to import historical prices of stock data. Matlab keeps cutting off the header of each column; it gives me only values. I am thinking that this is a data-type-mixing-issue, or whatever it’s called. I have ‘Dates’ in ColumnA, and ‘MSFT’, ‘PWER’, ‘KO’, and ‘SBUX’, in ColumnB-ColumnE. Basically, if I put the Excel file in my Matlab folder and double-click the file, I see the values in a matrix (no dates and no headers), I hit ‘Next’. Then, I see only one option; one radio button is enabled – ‘Create variable matching preview’. The other two options, ‘Create vectors from each column using column names’ and ‘Create vectors from each row using row names’ – both are greyed out. I’ve seen videos, on YouTube and on the Matlab site, where people import excel data and these options are NOT greyed out. No matter what I do, there options are ALWAYS greyed out. The problem is, when I click ‘Finish’ in my ‘Workspace’ I have a variable named ‘data’ all values in a 575x4 matrix, but I have NO DATES and I have NO HEADERS on the columns. Hey all, I am having some trouble with AM demodulation using MATLAB. I used the built-in MATLAB function butter to design a low pass filter and using the transfer function obtained, I filtered the modulated signal multiplied by the carrier. Here's the part of my m-file which deals with it: dam=cos(2*pi*250*t).*am; % am=amplitude modulated signal [b,a]=butter(5,250*2*Ts); %designing low pass filter with corner freq 250Hz, Ts-sampling %interval dam(:,1) = filtfilt(b,a,dam(:,1)); % filtering the demodulated signal dam=dam*2; %scaling to get original amplitude back the problem is that I'm trying to filter the signal without using the built in matlab functionality. I tried to multiply the transfer function of filter with the fourier transfer of dam (fft(dam)) to low pass filter it and then took the inverse fft of the answer, but came up with a weird answer when i tried to plot the demodulated signal. could someone tell me what i'm doing wrong when i am trying to filter it? Is there any other way around this without using built-in matlab functions? We are looking at using dgesdd() , in place of dgesvd() (svd()) to see if things speed up. The matlab manual stills says that svd() uses dgesvd() from lapack, what is the simplest way to use the speed benefit suggested by dgesdd() in the lapack manual. Hello Suman, While I'm not a Matlab guy, it appears (If I read your program correctly) that you are convolving your data with an FIR filter whose tap values are the mangitude of a Butterworth filter. If this is the case, it will fail for several reasons. One: the Butterworth filter is an IIR design. Two: the Butterworth filter has a phase response different from what you have here. Third: the magnitude response for a Butterworth needs a square root which is left out. And of course the taps in an FIR filter are the impulse response and not the frequency response. I have project for school where we are using the Cygnal 8051 mircocontroller to capture acceleration. I tried the following: I clicked on the yellow triangle on the left of #NAME and clicked on "Error Checking options". On the new window called Excel Options, I clicked "Excel Addin": I could see the VBA function under the "Active Application Addin" I also clicked on "Manage Excel Addin" and clicked on the checkbox VBA_Function(). I am trying to use data entered into an input box, to play certain sections of an audio file. Hi, I am currently working on a project which is called neural networks based 4 legged walking robot. Basically my objective is to use Neural Networks which is a kind of Artificial Intelligence processing to create a controller that would actually coordinate the movement of the legs of the robot. After successful completion of the program, i would have to create a simulation which LV is much capable and easier to implement with compared to other kind of programming interfaces. I know it may sound complicated, but my main question here is, whether mathscript in LV is able to withstand such processing power or complexity of the M-file? I will have to go through some training of data in order for the controller to make decisions based on the data trained with. The type of training method is the back propagation method if you are familiar with neural networks that is. I would really appreciate the information that i could get.
