From Matlab, how do I copy some cells(including formatting) and save
as image file?
I want to do that via COM or ActiveX server.
I know how to open and close the Excel sheet.
But what's the command in COM/ACTIVEX to copy a few cells
(rectangular shape, including formatting), and save as image?
You mean like you want to do a screen capture of the Excel window,
just like you'd do with alt-PrintScreen in Windows? But then you'd
have to find where in that image of the Excel window your cells of
interest were - might not be easy.

Not a whole screen capture.
Just a few cells.
Do you use Excel at all?
We do copy and paste cells all the time. Just wanted to do those
programmatically thru Matlab ActiveX server.
You can copy and paste cells, however they paste in the original
format of course. There is no way to convert the object type from
Excel cells to image and paste them as an image, at least not that I'm

You might have some luck exploring the COM interface to other windows
snap shot programs (depends on your windows OS version) as IA suggested.
I dont think Excel has this functionality. You could search Excel's VB
interface (which is what you call from MATLAB) for more clues.

Why does this happen? is it some sort of file access conflict issue?

Saving a file Hi,
I wrote a script to generate links to some pictures that I need to
regularly update our site with. Is there a way to write a script that
just saves the pics to a directory on my pc so I dont have to right

directly to the pics from our site because our site is https and the
site the pics are on are http so the user gets the security warning

Problem with Copying cells Dear Group,
We started putting our cadence database under revision control.
Thus there sit lots of .svn directories within the library subtree.
Now, when I want to copy a cell with library manager to another one.
Its .svn directory is also copied, which is NOT inteded. It definetly
will confuse SVN and SVN consistency.
New files appearing in the filesystem(like the COPY of a cell) shall
effectively NOT be under revision control
My intent is telling cadence just to copy the KNOWN files, not all files

Mbox files saved Using Mail, if I drag my archive (saved email) folder to the desktop I
get an mbox file with everything archived by the assigned number.
If I delete the Archive folder in the program to keep it clean and start

any way at all that I can tell which email I'm looking for in there?

File copying and permissions Just backed up my Applications folder to an external drive but had to

Saving data to a spreadsheet file... We are doing a simple acquisition on 2 channels using an Easy AI.

Every time the "number of samples" on the Easy AI ends, Labview writes

moxed format file i/o Hi All,
I have a data file which has mixed formats (part in ascii and part
bin). The file structure is like this:
ascii - Couple of lines of header, followed by a (variable) # of
lines. This ascii part (header + bunch of lines) ends with ^Z (dos
bin - Then the binary part follows, which has data.
My concern is about finding the dos EOF. What is the best way to
tackle this situation? i.e., read the headers and then search each
lines after the header for the ^Z? Do a 'strmatch' (hex/ascii?)?
Reading the binary part should be OK. Any pointers?
Thanks in advance,
