QuickTime for Java: Applet crashes JVM and browsers on Windows
I've written an applet that uses QuickTime for Java to display some video. I can run the applet in the appletviewer (with a sufficiently lax security policy), but if I try to run it in a Web browser, the JVM and browser crash. Both IE6 and Firefox are affected. I'm using the Java plugin 1.5.0_02, and Windows XP. The HotSpot error log (here hs_err_pid3044.log) starts out with the following lines: # # An unexpected error has been detected by HotSpot Virtual Machine: # # EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) at pc=0x6d6c9ab4, pid=3044, tid=3140 # # Java VM: Java HotSpot(TM) Clien...

UDB Commands
Ok...So there is a "CREATE DATABASE" command to create a Database (as a "CLP" command), while there is a "db2icrt" command (as a "System" Command) to create an instance...why such variation? Why is there not a "CREATE INSTANCE" command? TIA Raquel. Instance creation requires changes to be made at the OS level, this is the key really. db2icrt requires either root (unix) or local admin (windows) to run. During instance creation it is necessary to run operating system commands using these high authority levels to ensure that the instanc...

STALKER: Clear Sky
Anyone managed to get on to the GSC forums this afternoon? I have posted some messages about game crashing, script errors and corrupted save game files. From what I have played so far I am really enjoying it, except for the bugs of course. When I had my second save game get corrupted I gave up. There was supposed to be another patch out today and I'll wait for that I think before returning. How in the hell did GSC manage to screw up yet again! In fact I would say that this game is a in a worse state than SoC was at release which is hugely disappointing. Ironically, if you look at the Dee...

Remote Windows Login
Hi My system runs on a LAN. I have been trying to find a way of identifying the windows username of each remote user of the system and allocate the value to a variable. I have tried functions like "get_current_user()", "getmyuid" and "php_uname(n)", but all have been unsuccessful. The "php_uname(n)" was closest but only provided me with the Windows Username of the server. It is the remote user's Windows Username that I want. Is what I am trying to do possible or is it just not logical. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Hello, on 12/26/...

Count Command Help
Hello, I am working with a data set and I have a set of variables that range from 0-4. I need to compute the number of variables that have been given a 1-4. I am currently using a count command (see syntax pasted below), which works great except that if a participant has all missing values (user defined as 99 & 98) they still get a 0 instead of a system missing value. So, I want my count command to only be executed if the participant has at least 70% of the data entered. We went compute means we accomplish this by using the following syntax: COMPUTE ambsitratingpr = MEAN.13 (amb...

Why is the first value missing in the Chart when I use Property Nodes to clear my Charts programatically ?

Windows Firefox much faster than Linux Firefox
<quote> We posted yesterday about Firefox having very different JavaScript performance on Windows and Linux, despite being the same version of the software. Some people have said that we should have used a stock build from Mozilla. (We disagree, because we'd argue that most Linux users use software from their package manager rather than downloading bits and pieces from the web.) Others have said that Opera should be tested. And some people have said that it's Nvidia/AMD/Intel drivers that are slowing down Linux. .... .... .... The end result: Firefox from Mozilla or from Fed...

Makefile shell command
Hi, I need to define a variable with the 'shell' command in a Makefile, like this: TMPDIR := $(shell mktemp -d) However, this is only used for a few rules, yet it gets expanded (and the directory gets created) every time. To deal with that, I've added a '$(MAKE) clean' at the end of rules not needing it, where the clean target (.PHONY) has '-rm -rf $(TMPDIR)'. This solution doesn't seem right though because a new TMPDIR is still created. What is the right solution? Thanks. Cheers, -- Seb On Fri, 03 Oct 2008 09:24:05 -0500, Seb wrote: > Hi, > ...

Any suggestions why P.S. the logic behind when it crashes is too complicated to explain - tried chasing it but involes Simulink - error should be irrelevant, question is - is cl...

There is some confusion on my site I should clear up
From the responses I have read, some of you find error pages where there should be none. Perhaps my fault in the wording. But as I have it now, there are two seperate items. The first is the main player. Then, there is the charts section. The song list in the main player was derived from the charts. Taking the top 20 from each year. For each song listed in the main player, you should find it listed in the chart for that year as well. I have removed the play button in the charts because some probably thought that is what I meant when I said, "press the play button". ...
