I cannot run Matlab 7.1 properly

  • Follow

After I installed Matlab 7.1, it showed:
javax.swing.border.EmptyBorder. <int>(Unknown Source)
com.mathworks.mwswing.table.SortedTableHeaderRenderer.getTableCellRendererComponent(SortedTableHeaderRenderer.java:131)...
etc. when I run it on Windows 7.
I have reinstalled it for several, I still got the same error message.

I have the same problem here! I have Matlab R2006a

Matlab was working properly on my XP Service Pack 3 machine, but now -the same installation that used to work- shows the starting screen followed by this very long error message that starts with the lines:
javax.swing.border.EmptyBorder.<init> (unknown source)
com.sun.java.swing.plaf.windows.WindowsTableHeaderUI$XPDefaultRenderer.getTableCellRendererComponent (unknown source)
...
and about more 30 lines ending with (unknown source)

I tried installing it on my Windows 7 machine, got the same error message
Also tried several compatibility formats, no good.

Please help.

There is a bug report with a workaround :
Startup might fail with Windows XP custom desktop theme
