  • Follow

hi friends,

I'd like to know your thoughts on whether it would be a good investment if I bought matlab 2010b .

Currently, I'm using 2010a. I do most of my work with toolboxes such as Image processing, optimization toolbox.

take care ..

Hi Kurtis, If you are not in the maintenance program, which I'm guessing from your post that you are not, then I recommend you look at the release notes for the toolboxes you rely on the most. The release notes will tell you what the new features are in 10b. It seems like that would help you decide.

How long can you wait for the decision? 2011a is available in
pre-release now, so if you are not in a hurry you might wish to consider
waiting for it.

Is this a student version or a "normal" version? When you purchase a
"normal" version, you get one year's free maintenance, so if you purchased
R2010a, you should be able to upgrade to R2010b (and also probably R2011a
when it comes out) at no cost. Student versions are not eligible for
upgrades as far as I know.

....and if it has lapsed recently, I recall you can reinstate it more cheaply than buying a fresh licence. Ask TMW
