Labview 7.1 and Matlab 7.4
We had a vi working with Labview 7.1 : Unfortunately University upgraded the common version of Matlab to 7.4(R2007a) from 7.2 - and - the vi stopped working - no error messages while running the vi. 1. does Labview 7.1 support Matlab 7.4.0 2. I had more interaction with our computer centre and they have sent me an OSD file, which while opening with notepad looks something like Javascript. When running that script, I got my Labview to communicate with the Matlab server - as he explains - it launches the local copy of Labview within the SoftGrid environment and that would allow it to interact with Matlab. I can send the OSD file to you. The only problem is while in the middle of the analysis, it crashes sometimes because it forces Matlab to open too. I am in touch with computer centre to resolve the problem. Cheers, &nbsp; Mankind ...

SNOPT 7.2-4 in Matlab 7.8.0.347
Hello all, I'm attempting to use SNOPT 7.2-4 in Matlab 7.8.0.347 (r2009a) 64-bit (glnxa64) through the mex-file interface that can optionally be compiled along with the rest of the source code. Matlab is running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8. I compiled SNOPT with gcc v. 4.1.2 and g77 v. 3.4.6; also with gcc 3.4.6. In either case the compilation goes fine. When running the included examples in SNOPT (via the "runAllExamples" m-file), I get back the SNOPT-specific error message: Error using ==> snoptcmex Line is too long to be printed Error in ==> snspec at 11 inform = snoptcmex( snoption, filename ); Error in ==> t1diet at 6 snspec ( t1diet.spc ); Error in ==> runAllExamples at 10 [x,xmul,F,Fmul, info] = t1diet; Tracing this error back through the source code, it would appear that somewhere along the line the length of a string buffer exceeds 140 characters, which throws up this error. I can't figure out why or how to fix it. Incidentally, a naive change in the length of the allowed buffer to something larger than 140 characters either has no effect or throws up a segmentation violation, without any particular reason for one behavior or the other so far as I can tell. A very niche question that's not necessarily Matlab-specific; but hopefully someone out there has had a similar problem and can point me in the right direction. Thanks, Luke ...

Incompatible of MAT file for Matlab 6.5.1 and Matlab 7.0
Hi! I have recently installed Matlab 7.0. I have save my simulation results in .MAT file. However, these MAT files can't be opened using Matlab 6.5.1. I encountered problem as follows: ??? Error using ==> load Unable to read MAT file D:\MATLAB7\work\results.mat File may be corrupt. How can I solve this problem? Thanks. Linda Please see here: <http://tx.technion.ac.il/~perryb/matlab7/mat7.pdf> In short, save again as: The new features and enhancements are described in the "Release notes" of Matlab. A new feature that causes incompatibility with previous versions of Matlab is the new encoding of MAT files. Matlab release 14 writes character and figure data to MAT-files using Unicode encoding by default. Unicode encoded MAT-files are not readable by earlier versions of Matlab. If you intend to load your MAT-files created with Matlab release 14, you must override the Unicode default during the save. You can override the default encoding by using the -v6 switch with save and hgsave: save filename -v6 hgsave filename -v6 Hope it helps Linda wrote: > > > Hi! > > I have recently installed Matlab 7.0. > I have save my simulation results in .MAT file. > However, these MAT files can't be opened using Matlab 6.5.1. > > I encountered problem as follows: > > ??? Calling Matlab 7.1 from LabView 6.1
Hello, I am using LabView 6.1 and I have recently installed Matlab 7.1 on the same machine. When I try to call Matlab by a Matlab script node, I only get the error message that the script could not be executed and that a failure occured calling the script server. (This does not depend on what script I implement.) Earlier, I had Matlab 6.5 which worked well with the script nodes. What can I do to get the script nodes running? Hello&nbsp;ffffff&nbsp; :) I can pretty much assure you that LabVIEW 6.1 has not been tested with MATLAB 7.1, and "officially" I might go so far as to say it's not supported. That said, you might try downloading the MATLAB Script.zip file attached to this KnowledgeBase entry: <a href="http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4475BC3CEB062C9586256D750058F14B" target="_blank">http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/4475BC3CEB062C9586256D750058F14B</a> Follow the directions in the KB to update the matscript.dll file in your LabVIEW 6.1 distribution, and this might resolve the issue.&nbsp; This addressed numerous issues with the MATLAB script node so that version 7.0 of MATLAB would work well with LabVIEW.&nbsp; I'm not sure if this version of the matscript.dll has been tested with LabVIEW 6.1 or not, but in theory it should work.&nbsp; Also, if the problems you are encountering are new to MATLAB 7.1 in specific, there may not yet be a solution for this; I don't know how new MATLAB 7....

Matlab Component Runtime in Windows 7
We have a problem with our application in Windows 7. Our application is using dlls located in the Matlab Component Runtime directory (v70) and it was working fine in Windows Xp but since we started testing Windows 7, it's not working anymore. I really don't know how our application was integrated with Matlab, but all that I know is that we call some matlab functions in dll files located in the MCR. The error that we have is a "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" error (Runtime Error) and no other information is available even when I'm debugging. I tried a couple of solutions that I found on this site (I updated the jre version in the MCR directory and changed the Windows 7 theme to the default one) but it didn't work. We had a different error though with the jre6 version (previously jre1.4.2) : it involved a SEHException, type.isgenericparameter and mscorlib. Is this exception "curable"? Should we stick with the jre6? Can I do something about it because, technically, as we only reference the dlls, shouldn't it work? Fail to install MATLAB R2007a on Windows 7
This is an issue when I install MATLAB R2007a on a Windows 7 Pro machine. After I fill in the information in name/company/PLP page and click the "next" button, there is no response from the installer. Interestingly, the other buttons (prev, cancel, help) still functional. Same thing happened to me too.. :( Then I've install windows XP and its working perfectly on that. I had the same Problem. I fixed it by changing the Windows Desktop Theme to Classic. After having changed the theme you can install MATLAB R2007a as usual. But whenever you run MATLAB while having selected another theme than classic you will get an ja...

launching MATLAB from the context menu in Windows 7
I have been using the following convenient hack for as far as I can remember: Add the key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\MATLABHere\command to the registry, with the value "matlab.exe" Right-clicking on any file (not just MATLAB files) brings up the context menu that now contains the option "MATLABHere", to open MATLAB with the directory you are in as the MATLAB current directory. In Windows, this is a convenient trick that saves maybe 1.5 seconds a few times a day. Somehow, this broke down with R2011b. You can still launch MATLAB from the Dos window with the same command (matlab), but not from the context menu. Any ideas why? I realize this question is 1 part MATLAB to 99 parts Windows, but maybe someone on this forum knows both better than I do. Yair Altman? Thanks muchly, -n ...
