Mysterious java error

I get the following error occasionally when I change directories:
Exception "java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: failed to parse:"while
constructing DataFlavor for:

The error appears in red in the Matlab command window. It occurs on
two different installations of Matlab (i.e. on 2 different
computers). What does it mean? Is it something that must be fixed?

I get red java errors all the time (several times per day). Illegal
this, swing that, heap this, etc. I just ignore them all. They don't
seem to cause me any harm. I wouldn't worry about it unless you're
being prevented from doing something you think you should be able to
do.

I know that if you change your video setup you get a large array of java errors that dont mean anything. This happens to me, for example, when I undock or dock my laptop.
