Stand-alone compiled on 64-bit machine to run on 32-bit?

  • Follow

I just compiled my first stand-alone application using R2010b and Matlab Compiler V4.14 (which includes MCR 7.14) on a 64-bit Windows 7 OS. I deployed the package to another 64-bit W7 machine and it ran fine (though I did have to install MCR twice). When I tried to deploy it to a 32-bit W7 machine, there was an error installing MCR (apparently because I deployed a 64-bit version since the error mentioned processor incompatibility).

If I find a 32-bit MCR installer, will my stand-alone work?
Where can I get a 32-bit version?

As I recall, you can install the 32-bit version of MATLAB on a 64-bit OS. Presumably you would be able to install the 32-bit MCR at the same time.

Many 32-bit applications will work on a 64-bit OS; the converse is not true.

Mark, you are completely correct. I now have another instance of Matlab running on 32-bit so I can distribute accordingly (single-user license).

but than again
If I have only win64 bit matlab version, I make a stand alone using win64 bit matlab.
can it run over win32 bit computer in case of using the win32 mcr?

Hi
Does anyone have an answer to this question? I also have 64 bit Matlab. I want to create a stand alone that will run on 32 bit computer. How do I do this?
Thanks,
Danielle

The answer is no. You have to install 32-bit Matlab.

Thanks for the quick answer!

If I have 64 bit Matlab, do I need to purchase a 32 bit version? Or is it somehow built in? I checked the options at installation, I do not see where I can choose if I want 64 or 32 bits.

Thanks,
Danielle

In the installation DVD you have to go to the win32 platform a click on setup.exe.

If you download from Mathworks website, the OS is proposed in checkbox.

When I need to compile for 32-bit, I move to a 32-bit computer I have my licensed copy installed on, then compile. Otherwise I am using a 64-bit OS. Sorry I didn't answer sooner since it was my initial question.
