This installer must be rung from disk #1

  • Follow

Hello,

I'm on Windows Vista Business.

I'm trying to installing Matlab onto a machine that has no CD ROM
drive. So I want to copy the files onto the machine via network, and
then run from there.

I get the message "This installer must be run from disk #1. Please
insert that disk and try again". My colleague does not appear to have
this issue when installing across the network. But I do not know why.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Regards,

Stuart.

Yes. It's now on a local hard drive. Does it need to be in a
particular folder name? It's currently in c:\matlab\, with the 32 bit
in c:\matlab\win32

no, any (typically a tmp) folder should work - at least, that's how we do it...

I've tried it from temp too. Both as admin and as another user. It's
failed as both. What a bizarre problem. Has anyone else experienced
this?

It doesn't sound familiar to me -- you should contact Technical Support for
help in troubleshooting this problem.

I have the same problem when I try to install the parallel computing toolbox. I had previously installed MATLAB 2010a (64 bit). I use Windows 7 (64 bit).
This installer appears to be far to choosy! Why it doesn't simply do what it is supposed to do?

It does ... and when it runs into a problem that it doesn't know how to
handle, it throws an error.

I recommend you contact Technical Support for assistance with this
installation issue. They can determine what's causing this problem and how
to resolve it, and perhaps with that information they can improve the
Installer to better handle that situation in the future.
