We have a Senior Statistical Programmer position and a Statistical Support
Specialist position open in the Harvard Graduate School of Education's
Learning Technologies Center.

The Senior Statistical Programmer position provides programming assistance
to students and faculty engaged in teaching and research.

Key responsibilities are: 1) Supporting the work of advanced doctoral
students with problems that go well beyond the material taught in classes.
Responsible for assisting these students with particularly complex
problems, such as complex database manipulations, writing SAS macro code,
using unusual software routines, etc.; 2) Supporting faculty research when
the programming required for a faculty research project exceeds what the
faculty can reasonably do, either because of complexity or because of the
amount of programming; 3) Conducting a variety of small-group workshops or
other training events as needed and appropriate; 4) Working
collaboratively with other research IT support members to ensure seamless,
proactive service is delivered.

The Statistical Support Specialist serves as a champion for the IT
research needs and support for the GSE and provides guidance for strategic
direction.

Key responsibilities are: Supporting and expanding the students' use and
understanding of statistical applications related to their research
coursework and works with faculty to ensure methodologies and tools align
with course focus and assignments; also provides support for doctoral
student research. Determines the School's training needs for quantitative
and qualitative applications and conducts training for students and
faculty in a timely fashion. Surveys and identifies appropriate and
effective tools for quantitative and qualitative research and teaching and
proposes solutions as needed, as well as suggests software upgrades
appropriate for the school's goals. Provides extended classroom support
for statistical software and is involved in selecting software,
recommending licensing levels, developing upgrade plans and projecting
budget requirements. As part of a small team providing this new and
important support service to students and faculty, meets with all related
research IT support members on a regular basis.
