Connection to Sql Server via odbc

  • Follow

Hi All,

I was about to get a desktop analytics pro licence when I noticed I
might need to get the SAS/ACCESS=AE Interface to ODBC too. My budget
doesn't allow for this and I'm a little frustrated that a separate
addon is need just to connect to an ODBC source. grrrrrrrrrr

Is this totally necessary? I wouldn't be need to do much more than
link to single tables to pull into SAS for analysis. The cost of this
seem total overkill.

Does anyone know if the base option has sufficient ability to link to
an odbc source (sql server).

Many thanks.

You can generate a text file from SQL then import that into SAS if this
table is not updated too often but otherwise there's no way around it. I
often had to write my own codes to import Excel into SAS because my client
did not have SAS/ACCESS but I don't there's anything you can do to get
around ODBC.

Welcome to SAS.

Ok, the confirmation is much appreciated if not quite what I was
hoping for.

Cheers
