Re: Trouble with installing SAS on Windows Vista #2

I also don't think SAS runs on Home editions of Windows. FYI.

You need to install it in XP compatibility mode... there's a SAS technical support article on it. -Joe On Tue, Nov 18, 2008 at 12:31 PM, Jacqueline <jacqueline5581@gmail.com>wrote: > Hi all, > my computer came with Windows Vista home premium and I am having > trouble downloading SAS..in fact it won't let me! Re: Trouble with installing SAS on Windows Vista #7
SAS 9.2 works on Vista Home Premium, it's installed and running on my Wife's Dell Laptop at the moment. Installation wasn't too difficult, just following the instructions on installing on Vista, but then the nice people at SAS had sent us SAS 9.2 on a disk, so there were no issues with downloading. I had thought that the requirements check at the start of the install would fail, but it reported no problems. The only issue we've had (problem with tabs in the editor) has been solved by a hotfix, which installed easily. SAS 9.2 isn't supported by SI on Vista Home Premium, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work on Vista Home Premium. Regards ++ Guido ...

Howard I congratulate you on getting it to work on XP home. I tried it a few years ago but ran into some problem and gave up. I wonder how many other XP Home sites are out there. I have raised the issue with SAS staff at conferences that they are placing a burden on those of us who want to run SAS at home in order to support our jobs -- meaning that we have to buy more expensive operating systems than a home site would ordinarily need. Re: SAS 9.2 phase 2 install
Hi, I'm responding to the post by Jerry Davis re: installing SAS 9.2, phase 2 on a single Windows machine, not a server. I have installed phase 2 and had SAS 9.1.3 already installed. So my experience is not with an upgrade from Phase 1. I had similar experience to what Jerry Davis reports. So I've been on the phone with tech support. The best result I got from that is, for a single install, stop the Deployment Wizard (not a quick and easy task). Then run it from a command line and two options as follows -- d:\setup.exe -forceinstall - skipplanning (or whatever drive letter). T...

Re: SAS Sample 1728 Was ---> Re: SAS Sample 1727 #2
Graham , I am not sure that the SI Tech Support examples should have all the error checking that Chang wanted to throw in the macro. The examples should be clear concise and easy to read and get going, as well as be illistrative. Too much error checking in an example well is just over kill and even detrimental to an example. However, any code solution on the SI Tech Support web sit should follow basic rules of good practices and sound advice. Such as with thier macros having atleast a somewhat good Macro design. Look at Example SAS Sample 1728: The first method well lets say is soooo bad...

SAS server and SAS installation on a server #2
Hi all, I just need to know what is the difference between SAS server and SAS installed on a server (windows). Is that, SAS installation for Desktop different from SAS installation on server? And if different then in what way. I have SAS installed on the server and that is being used by 4 people. Are these all profiles the same or the rest three users getting a temporary profile to use. If all the four are using the same dataset then is it possible to make them available at the same time. Is it that SAS will lock it if once is already using it. I know I have put a lot questions in one query ...

Re: SAS/DMS library default library allocations using SAS V8.2 on #2
The library allocations have to be stored <somewhere>, otherwise you wouldn't continue to get the prompt. You can look under your userid to see if it's there (though I suspect you've already done that), but a better question would be directed at the SAS sysadmin--ask them where these profiles/customizations are stored (the sasuser.profile is the generic one--your personal one is concatenated along with it). You may be able to see your session info under your userid tso log (shows usage information), though off the top of my head I can't remember if it captures al...
