[wxMSW 2.5.2] Font size issue

Is anyone working on the font size issue? At the least for MSW?

I noticed that in wxNativeFontInfo::GetPointSize(), there is still a
FIXME from 1.39, and I'm running into issues of obtaining the correct
font size. Has someone figured out a workaround?

Basically, I'm trying to get font information on text inside a
wxTextCtrl.  I'm using wxTextCtrl::GetStyle().

 I don't think this FIXME is relevant in this case. The problem is only
with the font size for printing, the size returned should be correct for
display.

Compilation problem with wxMSW-2.4.2 and BC++ 5.5 #2
I'm having trouble compiling wxMSW-2.4.2 with Borland C++ 5.5. I followed the steps provided in the install.txt. However, when I execute 'make -f makefile.b32'... it seems to compile alright in the first few lines then suddenly the compilation halts. The I check to see if the wx32ds.lib in the \lib directory, it's not there. So I assume that the compilation didn't go as well. When I tried executing the makefile again, it now has 1 error. The error is something do with too many errors and warnings. I check to see if the samples work too. But it doesn't. Som...

[wxMSW-2.5.1,2.5.2] Undefined reference to wxEntry
Hi all, I've notice other posts with similar complaints, but I haven't been able to get a working solution. I apologise if there is a well-known solution that I haven't yet found. Using a static multi-lib build of wxMSW 2.5.1 or 2.5.2, I get the following error: g++ -g *_debug.o -o c_debug -L/msw/wxWidgets-2.5.2/build/lib -Lwxc ale -Wl,--subsystem,windows -mwindows -L/msw/wxWidgets-2.5.2/build/lib /home/eg ner2/msw/wxWidgets-2.5.2/build/lib/libwx_mswd_html-2.5.a /msw/wxWidgets-2.5.2/build/lib/ libwx_mswd_adv-2.5.a /msw/wxWidgets-2.5.2/build/lib/libwx...

RE: Compilation problem with wxMSW-2.4.2 and BC++ 5.5 #2
Do you have the compiler flags set to non-default values - specifically the next file after glcanvas.cpp is gsocket.c and by default BCC32 will compile this a c rather than c++ - however I seem to remember that in 5.5 you could change the defaults - try a bcc32 -h and see if the -P option is turned on. Hope this is a help but that is the most noticeable difference around glcanvas.cpp so may be the problem. -----Original Message----- From: Beverly Ng [mailto:bevjoyng@yahoo.com] Sent: 01 September 2004 13:55 To: wx-users@lists.wxwidgets.org Subject: RE: Compilation problem with wxM...

2.4.2 -> 2.5.2 XRC and <font>
Sorry for the barrage of questions... I've gotten everything moved over to 2.5.2, save some XRC based fonts not being brought in correctly. I have several: <font> <size>10</size> <weight>bold</weight> </font> Tags in the XRC (Kids like big fonts), and I just noticed that the EXE was not reflecting the changes. (Still standard) I attempted to do a: wxFont font = GetFont(); font.SetPixelSize(10); font.SetWeight(wxBOLD); SetFont(font); And that too was not reflected in the application. Any thoughts? wxMenuItem bitmap transparancy/size [wxMSW 2.5.2]
When I assign a bitmap to a wxMenuItem using SetBitmap the bitmap lacks transparency. Moving the mouse over that menu item causes the menu item to turn blue but the region of the bitmap that should be transparent remains white. The bitmap is created from a PNG with an alpha channel but I know the bitmap's transparency works as I use the exact same bitmap for a toolbar tool and it shows up correctly. The alpha channel I use has either full transparent pxiels or full opaque pixels (no partial transparency). Also, what is the "standard" size for menu item bitmaps...

Backward compatibility between 2.5.3 and 2.5.2
I recompiled my code with 2.5.3. Several dialogs get garbaged. Option dialog containing notebook just display an OK button, Splash screen has the wrong size. It looks like 2.5.3 is *not* backward compatible with 2.5.2. For example, wxGetCharSize 4th parameter is now const wxFont& rather than wxFont* as in 2.5.2. 2 * 2 * 2 * 2 or pow(2, 4)?
Hi , I hope this isn't too trivial to ask, but I'm evaluating a polynomial that involve lots of terms like x^2y^2z^3, and although I can use the power function pow(a, b), I wonder if just writing x*x*y*y*z*z*z for example wouldn't be more efficient than pow(x, 2)*pow(y, 2)*pow(z,3). First of all, wxWindows checks the following: #if (defined(__WXDEBUG__) && wxUSE_MEMORY_TRACING) || wxUSE_DEBUG_CONTEXT I do not know how to enable wxUSE_DEBUG_CONTEXT. In setup.h they also question themselves what to do with it, So we have to enable the first section. You allready have the __WXDEBUG__, but you should add "--enable-mem_tracing" to the configure.
