CFP IEEE ICCI Special session: Software/systems engineering for autonomic application software
CALL FOR PAPERS Software/systems engineering for autonomic application software https://syst.eui.upm.es/conferences/icci07/ Special Session at The 6th IEEE International Conference of Cognitive Informatics ICCI 2007 http://www.ecs.csus.edu/webconf/ICCI2007/ http://www2.enel.ucalgary.ca/ICCI2007/ August 6-8, 2007, Mont Blue Hotel (Caesars Palace), Lake Tahoe, California, USA Session Description An increasingly important requirement for software-intensive systems is the ability to take their own `decisions on properties. They are usually deined by the self-* features: self-management, self-adaptation, self-evolution, self-manage, self-configuration, etc. For instance, self-management refers to the ability of systems to configure and reconfigure itself, continually tune and optimize itself, protect and recover itself, while keeping its complexity hidden from the user. These topics have been studied in a significant number of application areas (software services, robotics, control systems, ) and with ideas coming from different areas (software architectures, programming languages, user interfaces, decision taking systems, ). The session aims at bringing together researchers working on the area of the design, implementation, and validation of software and systems that must have some autonomic properties. It promotes the cross-fertilizing exchange of ideas and experiences among researchers and students from different approaches to the problem : software engineering, formal met...

DiskBrowser Software
Hello Everyone. http://www.bytezone.com/apple/html/diskbrowser.html Thought people would find this a neat little program. All Java too. Denis is looking for people to try the program and let him know if they find any formats the program can't read. He will then add that format to the program and re-release it. With a little luck the end result will be a program that runs on both PC and Mac and lets us also read/write to CF Cards. Of course one major question is can Java actually read raw data from a CF Card directly. Anyone know for sure or have a link to an example? I have al...

=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Call for Papers =3D=3D=3D=3D A Special Issue on =93Emerging Synergies of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering=94 International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering http://zimmer.csufresno.edu/~shliu/IJSEKE/ ** Theme: As software engineering is requested to answer dynamic, automated, adaptive, optimal and/or large-scale demands, other computer science disciplines come to play. Artificial Intelligence is one of them that may bring software engineering into further height. Conversely, software engineering techniques also play an important role to alleviate development cost and time of AI techniques as well as assist in introducing new AI techniques. Such mutually beneficial characteristics have appeared in the past few decades and still evolved due to new challenges. Several exemplified challenges include, but not limited to, how machine learning addresses software optimization problems derived from new software approaches (e.g., model-driven engineering, service-oriented computing, and cloud computing); and conversely how these new software approaches may help develop artificial intelligence-related software environments. A special issue on "Emerging Synergies of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering" of the International Journal of Software Engineering and Knowledge Engineering will devote to the latest innovative =93synergistic=94 AI and software engineering techniques/ practices to the aforementioned ...

[CFP] Special Session on Semantic Representation, Analysis, and Transmission for Large-Scale Multimedia Database, and Software Engineering Supporting Tools
Call for Paper Special Session on Semantic Representation, Analysis, and Transmission for Large- Scale Multimedia Database, and Software Engineering Supporting Tools held at IEEE 8th International Conference on Intelligent System Design and Applications November 26-28, 2008, Kaohsiung City, Taiwan Conference and Special Session website: http://bit.kuas.edu.tw/~isda08/ The main theme and goals of the special session: =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D= =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Due to the intensive nature of multimedia data and inherent complexity among the heterogeneous media data across diverse application domains, building large-scale multimedia database software systems has never been an easy task, and has increasingly attracted the attention of many research and development efforts in industry and academia. In the last decade, substantial progress has been made in content- based analysis to facilitate the development of large-scale multimedia databases. Together with the recent progress on semantic web and web-based software engineering architecture, including web services (WS) and service-oriented architecture (SOA), those progresses make it possible to build a new generation of multimedia applications that enables large-scale semantic representation, analysis, and transmission of multimedia data from heterogeneous data sources. However, there is still a long way to go for mature solutions of multimedia database system...

CFP: IFM 2004 (Kent, April 2004)
------------------------------------------------------------- SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS Fourth International Conference on Integrated Formal Methods IFM2004 http://www.cs.kent.ac.uk/ifm2004 (submission deadline: 15th September 2003) -------------------------------------------------------------- April 5-7, 2004 Canterbury, Kent, England. Theme ------- Applying formal methods may involve the modelling of different aspects of a system that are expressed through different paradigms. This motivates us to research the combination of different viewpoints upon a system, either by the creation of hybrid notations, by extending existing notations, by translating between notations, or by incorporating a wider perspective by innovative use of an existing notation. The integration of formal methods promises great benefits for systems modelling and software development. Whichever approach is taken, significant issues can arise in areas such as semantic integration, the tractability of notations, the integration of tool support, the integration of proof systems, consistency and completeness. Issues arise equally in our modelling of systems at different levels of abstraction and the development of these models through the process of refinement. The scope of IFM2004 includes all aspects of integration of different notations, paradigms, and tools, including integration of state-based and behavioural formalisms, and the formal strengthening of informal notati...
