After upgrading Crystal Reports 8.5 to SP3, I can no longer export to
The "Export Options" dialog (Page Range) displays correctly, but then
I get the infamous "Error -2147190908" dialog instead of the file
save dialog. All other export options work correctly.
PDF export works fine before applying SP3. The strange thing is that
it fails on some machines, but not on others. The ones it fails on
seem to be computers that have previously contained Crystal Reports
8.5 runtime components on them, but not 8.5 itself.
I have painfully discovered a process that corrects the problem. I
found that when I install the monthly hot fix file
"DBEXDRVRWIN_EN_200401.EXE" onto a machine that the problem goes away
on that machine forever. But the file timestamps are identical and I
couldn't identify a registry entry that explains it.
This fix works for my development machine, but it's pretty painful for
fixing client machines that only get the runtime components.
The bug needs to be fixed of course. But for now I'd be happy with
knowing what I have to add to my InstallShield file so that the
problem is avoided on client machines.
