The International Workshop on Parallel and Distributed Real-Time Systems =
is a=20
forum for the presentation and discussion of approaches, research finding=
s,=20
and experiences in the domain of large-scale parallel and distributed rea=
l-time
 systems. Both research and development of relevant technologies are of i=
nterest,=20
as well as the applications built using such technologies.=20

Special Session: Formal Methods for Real-Time Systems
-----------------------------------------------------
The aim of this Special Session is to bring together researchers, designe=
rs=20
and developers interested in formal methods used to support analysis and=20
design of time critical applications.=20

The session is focused on:=20
- Advances in theory of timed DES (Timed Automata, Timed Petri Nets, )=20
- Scheduling and discrete optimization of systems with timing constraints=
=20
- Schedulability analysis of RT applications (RMA, Response Time Analysis=
)=20
- Modeling issues and case studies=20
- Other topics related to formalisms with deadline constraints=20

Manuscripts for the special session of up to 15 pages should be submitted=

Challenge Problem Session:
--------------------------
This special session will revolve around the problem of "Detection and=20
Reaction to Unplanned Operational Events". The session will be devoted to=
=20
discussing the problem and proposed solutions. An award will be given fo=
r=20
the best solution. Please see the workshop web site (www.cs.uri.edu/~cin=

 and=20
selected by the program committee for presentation and publication at WPD=
RTS.

Topics of interest include but are not limited to:
--------------------------------------------------
* Resource Management
* Operating Systems and Middleware
* Programming Environments
* Algorithms and Applications
* Architectures
* Specification, Modeling, and Analysis
