Again, for the readers information... The dictation is not
transcribed on the iPhone or iTouch, the words are sent to Nuance
over the Internet and then back to your device after they have
been transcribed (and conceivably archived, who knows).

yes, "in fact", a phrase used meaning a continuation of the previous thought. --?!
Your point about it going to Nuance and back is noted, but doesn't seem to be a problem, among those I talked to.

That expression means "the following is fact". More about that can
be gotten from (alt.usage.english).

Looking at the iTunes store, it is a problem for the majority of
users. Whether it is a problem for a particular individual, having
what he (or she) says in a personal or business note sent to
Nuance for transcription, is a very personal decision.

Yesterday, my nephew showed me his new Google phone. He was so excited
because it had speech recognition built in. I was truthfully very
skeptical that it would be any good. First of all he told me he had
not trained it because he had a cold last week and figured he would
wait only got better. He said it seemed to be working just fine. I
almost interrupted and started to laugh when he showed me how easily
he was able to navigate and command the user interface by voice.
Before I could say anything, he opened a new e-mail by voice and
dictated three lines of text. Much to my surprise, the only errors,
and I guess these are certainly forgivable, was the proper names were
lower case.
My nephew is highly skilled and educated as an IT director. Also
having converse with me over the years concerning speech recognition
he has a great understanding of how speech recognition works. He told
me yesterday that the reason the Google phone speech recognition
application has such good recognition is because Google offered a free
411 service and used the acoustic and language data to build a speech
recognition engine. IBM, Dragon, paid linguists large amounts of money
over the years to go out and collect language data. It appears that
although Google did this on that sheet, they come up with a really
great system.

Hey, maybe Google will start (marketing and) selling voice recognition
software, and have better customer service and knowledge base than
Nuance! (imo, that wouldn't be too difficult)
