Hmm, 400 quid starting price for a Risc PC - I think you're being a bit
optimistic there! (I'll buy the VRAM off you seperately though ;-)

Sorry, it's staying as a complete system.

It is a Kinetic RiscPC remember, not just a RiscPC. Putting this
together from new would be well over the asking price so I don't think
it's optimistic. There's new C/C++ development software on there too
remember.

A single bid could secure it!

But you can't buy RiscPCs new any more.

I don't doubt that :-)

Calm down. You can buy a RiscPC system (including a Kinetic) new from CJE
Micros right now if you cared to actually look:

  http://www.cjemicros.co.uk/micros/prices/categories/computers.shtml

New would come in at:

  Kinetic RPC, 1012 UKP
Monitor, mouse + keyboard, erm, 100 UKP
  Acorn C/C++ CD, 200 UKP
  = 1312 UKP new

Which is mad considering how much a complete Iyonix system would cost.

Take a look at second hand RPC prices, add a Kinetic card and the 32 bit
Acorn C/C++ CD (OK, half the price of that 'cos they are also second hand).
What do you get?

  300 + 200 + 100 = roughly 600 UKP second hand

Give the guy a break; 400 quid is a good price, IMHO.

I've just confirmed with Castle that they hav'nt been able to source a
number of key RiscPC components and are therfore not able to produce another
batch:-(

RiscPC R.I.P.

We will update our website shortly.

(Curiosity only) Is the A7000 similarly obsolete?

(I remember seeing a place offering them in RPC cases)

Hmm?

I think "you can't buy RiscPCs new any more" was entirely clear in its
meaning.

And even clearer the second time.

Yes :-) but not very helpful :-(

Perhaps you could have said:
"Despite what it says on Castle's website, we've heard that you can't
buy RiscPCs new any more."
