If the mainboard has a floppy connector, then get a floppy drive
and a floppy cable. Plug them in.
If the mainboard does not have a floppy connector, then getting
an USB floppy is likely the only option.

I acquired a MAC SE with a 1.4 meg floppy drive. Previously I only
had a Plus with an 800K floppy drive. When I tried to format one of

use special disks? Or am I doing something wrong?

No. However there is the usual disadvantage, namely a higher
probability of simultaneous failure.

Hi I just got an old IDE zip 100 drive. On the back, it's label for
the jumpers is split into 2 boxes, labelled "Not Drive A" and "Drive
A". Each box shows three different jumper settings for how to set the
drive to slave/master/cable.
So in other words, there's six jumper settings on the back. Three for
"Drive A" - master/slave/cable and three for "Not Drive A" -
master/slave/cable which are different.
What does "Drive A" or "Not Drive A" mean? I don't know which jumper
settings diagram is right...

...Two drives: OS on Drive 1, Progs on Drive 2, My Docs on which?
I'm considering my partition options to give the best performance.
I already have a single Western Digital Raptor WD1500 ADFD.
I have my OS (XP Pro), applications and documents in separate partitions so
the drive head is having to spend a lot of time moving between them.
I wondered what improvement might be gained if I bought a second WD1500 and
changed where I store things.
So would it be better to have the OS and apps in separate partitions on
Drive 1 and My Docs on Drive 2? Or OS on 1, apps on 2, My Docs on which?

Sure, it's been discussed here in the past. In brief, if cleaning and
lubricating the rails is all that is needed, you disassemble the drive
to get easy access to the rails (for most PS/2 1.44MB drives, this

I'm selling an Apple IIe equipped with the dual 5.25" drive, floppy
drive interface card, standard 80-column card, mouse interface card,
Kensington System Saver fan, a SCSI card (Rev C I believe, but I'll
have to check again), and a 40 MB external SCSI drive. No monitor
included (I don't even have one).
Tested it to work booting from the hard drive, and reading the catalog
of 5.25" disks on both the floppy drives. However, I have not tested
it exhaustively, and have to sell it as-described.
Cases are quite yellowed, but I have not tried retr0brite on them (I
have not tried retr0bite on anything at all). There is a big crack on
the side of the dual drive unit (doesn't affect its functionality),
and small chips on the system saver. There are no cracks or chips
that I could see from examining the Apple IIe system unit or the
external hard drive.
