CommodoreServer New Feature - Create Public Disks

CommodoreServer.com now allows you to share your new D64 releases to the general public. Upload a D64 to your account (it stays private at this point), then click the Publish link, fill out the release information, and your disk becomes live in the Public Disk directory for all to see. When you have a newer version to release, simply re-upload the new disk image over the old one and it will create a new snapshot. Users will be able to see the history of releases and be able to download/ view the earlier versions as well. This is a great avenue for releasing any new software to t

Commodore accelerators info needed please!

Hi, It's been a long time since I did any research on Commodore hardware, probably five years or so. Things seem to have come full circle and I find myself writing a feature about Commodore accelerators like the SuperCPU. I own a couple of SuperCPUs, so researching them isn't a problem, however I only briefly used a Flash8 (and found out that it didn't actually work for very long), and I also know about the TurboMaster (4Mhz?). Someone once told me about a German 4Mhz accelerator, and I'm going to briefly mention the 17xx because the DMA can be used to move memory around fairly quic

VIC-I and Arduino

If you've never played with one, the Arduino Duemilanove development board is cool way to cross the bridge from software to hardware hacking. I highly recommend it for those of you who, like myself, would like to tinker with hardware without getting knee deep into the world of FPGAs and ASICs. For instance -- talk directly to a VIC-I/6560: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lPgQllJRYt8 Or, create a simple USB serial to PET User Port link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISpbgfORx_4 The 8-bit fun just never stops! I got my PET 2001 working again! To honor the occasion I decided to fire up some Forth on it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/chitselb/sets/72157624696682160/ Alas, I couldn't find Forth for the PET anywhere on the Internet! Commodore serial numbers

What is known about Commodore's serial numbers? I know that you can tell a lot about, say, a Corvair if you research the serial number. From what I can tell (Jim Brain's canonical list which doesn't include serial numbers), Commodore did a *lot* of prototype and test-market product lines, so things might be too confused to reconstruct at this point in time. For what it's worth, my Commodore PET 2001-16 N is serial number 700251. Charlie

I've been looking at barely readable schematics all day long but still can't figure it out. I need the value of R11 on the 1541 drive's motherboard, assy # 250442. My board is _exactly_ like this one: http://snipurl.com/10lq4q If you look around the IC in position UD4 (it's a 74123), you'll notice that: - C31 is not installed - R12 (just below the chip) is 24 KOhm (red, yellow, orange, gold) R11 is just above the 74123. Unfortunately, its colors aren't clearly distinguishable. The schematics I saw don't match, despite being labelled "assy 250442". On page 31 of this document http:

User Port and Arduino

Has anyone had experience interfacing an Arduino board with a Commodore via the user port? I've created a cable linking user port pins C through L to the Arduino's pins 2 through 9, and linked up each side's ground pins. The Commie's data direction register is configured for input, and the Arduino's pins are set as outputs. A simple BASIC program is running dumping the byte on the user port to the screen. I've confirmed that this program and the cable work by manually coupling data pins to ground and observing the changes on screen. The problem: writing highs and lows to the user po

6502 overflow (V) flag

I came across this article: http://6502.org/tutorials/vflag.html describing the overflow flag, and there's some discussion in there about the SO pin on the 6502 (set overflow). It's interesting to note that: 1) There's a CLV instruction but no corresponding SEV instruction 2) I've written some 6502 code but I haven't found a whole lot of use for the V flag It also raises in my mind some questions: 1) What was Chuck Peddle doing with that SO pin? 2) What does a PET/VIC/C64/C128 do with that pin? 3) Is there any hardware that utilises this feature?
